1. First Time Saying It Out Loud—Josh
“I’m… I’m…”
Josh sucked in another shaky breath through his nose. A thick lump had formed in his throat, stopping the air dead in its tracks and threatening to suffocate him. He gripped the edge of the sink, his knuckles turning as white as the porcelain it was made of.
C’mon, Russo. You know it’s true, just say it!
Swallowing around the lump, he forced himself to look up and into the mirror, his bloodshot, terrified eyes staring back at him. God, he looked pathetic. And for what? Because he couldn't bring himself to say the truth?
"I'm... I'm gay."
The words shot through the air like a bullet. Josh felt them echo off the tiled walls, and bounce around the bathroom like a rubber ball gone mad.
But no lightning struck.
No ground opened up.
It was just him, still sweating, still shaking, still standing.
He blinked once.
Twice.
His reflection hadn't changed. Still him. Still scared. But also… lighter. Like some crushing weight had finally shifted off his chest. His fingers loosened on the sink. A sob clawed up before he could stop it, half laugh, half cry. For the first time, it didn’t feel like the end.
2. First Date—David and Michael
"I'm sorry I'm late," David exclaimed as the waiter led him to the table, where Michael was already waiting. "Shift change took longer than I expected. Dr. Parker has it out for me and—mph."
He hadn't noticed Michael getting out of his chair, let alone the bone-crushing hug that was coming his way. David froze for a second but then allowed himself to relax into the embrace and slung his arms around Michael as well.
"My ex-wife is a police officer." Michael pulled away, running his thumb over David's cheek one last time. "Believe me, I can handle you being a bit late. What matters is that you're here now."
David felt the heat of a blush creep up his neck and onto his cheeks, hoping his skin tone would somehow hide it.
"That means more than you think," he said with a chuckle, sitting down opposite Michael. "Plenty of first dates ditched me for being late."
"Well, maybe if those people can't handle a surgeon's schedule, they shouldn't try to date a surgeon."
David's breath stopped for a second, the corners of his mouth turning upwards. He could already tell that this one was going to be special.
3. First I Love You—Hen and Karen
"You bought me Lindt chocolate?"
Hen smiled to herself. She kept unpacking the supplies she decided to bring over when Karen had texted her that she had caught a bad cold.
"Of course. Anything to make you feel better, even if it's a little pricey."
"Aw, baby," Karen cooed from her seat on the couch, where she had covered herself in at least three blankets, "God, I love you."
Hen froze, her hand still halfway in the paper bag. Slowly, she straightened up, the tissues dropping back inside.
"Ex-excuse me?"
"Don't make it weird."
Hen turned and blinked, her brain stuck on standby. They hadn't said it yet. Or, well, she guessed Karen had now. She just didn't know how to respond to that.
"Hen, come on," Karen mumbled, shivering in her blanket cocoon, "it's okay if you're not saying it back yet. I'm a big girl; I can handle it."
That did the trick.
Without waiting another second, Hen sat down on the couch next to Karen and pulled her into a hug to kiss her crown.
"I love you too," she mumbled, tightening her embrace. If Karen noticed the tears that hit her head, she didn't say anything.
4. First Meeting—Tommy and Buck
"I'm Evan. Uh, Buckley. Evan Buckley," the man with the birthmark over his eye introduced himself, gripping Tommy's hand, seemingly not even thinking about letting go. "I'm shaking your hand too long."
Almost as if the realization had burned his palm, Evan let go and snapped his hand back, though the dorky, slightly lopsided smile remained on his face.
That's adorable. Tommy felt his own mouth twitch, though he schooled it into the neutral half-smile he usually sported.
"Nice to meet you, Evan," he said, shoving his hands into the pockets of his flight suit. "Tommy Kinard."
Evan giggled, a rosy blush starting to dust his cheeks. That made Tommy's stomach feel like a flock of hummingbirds had invaded it. This beefcake of a man was cute. Almost too cute. That he had a bit of a babyface didn't help in that regard.
But no.
He shook his head a little, just slightly enough that Evan, Chimney and Eddie hopefully didn't really notice.
Evan was probably straight. And if he wasn't, he probably dated someone. A guy like him couldn't possibly be queer and single. Completely impossible.
"Alright," he said, finally turning toward Chimney. "Why do you need a chopper?"
5. First Kiss—Michael and David
"So," David said, he and Michael coming to a halt in front of his apartment building. "I had fun tonight."
"Good to know," Michael chuckled, the hand he had on the small of David's back traveling up to squeeze his shoulder. "Shows me I still have it in me in my advanced age."
David gave him a fond smile, and... huh.
Did Michael imagine that, or had David's eyes actually flicked down to his mouth?
As if he could read Michael's mind, David now darted out his tongue to not-so-subtly lick his own lips.
Michael's face grew hot. David was fishing for exactly what he thought he was fishing for.
His mouth suddenly dry as a desert, Michael took a step closer, until they were nearly chest-to-chest. He reached up to cup his face, running a thumb over David's cheek, the other man leaning into his touch, before he slowly drew him in.
The kiss was surprisingly chaste, just lips on lips, but that didn't matter, not right now.
Because this wasn't Michael's first kiss. It wasn't even his first kiss with another man. But Michael could safely say this was the first time a kiss had left him breathless.
6. First Place Together—Karen and Hen
"This is it," Karen said after the realtor had stepped outside to give them some room. She stepped into the middle of the bare (for now) living room and started mapping it out. She knew exactly where to put the couch, the armchair, the dining table.
She had taken a single step into what would be their bedroom and had instantly known what direction they'd put the bed, how to decorate it, how many throw pillows she'd have to buy.
This house was perfect.
It just was.
Hen's arms suddenly wrapped around her waist, making Karen startle slightly, though she relaxed by the time Hen had her head resting on Karen's shoulder. "It really is, isn't it?"
"It's us," Karen answered, turning in Hen's arms to face her. "It's so us. This house was waiting for us."
Hen smiled and pulled Karen in for a short, sweet kiss, the kind that Karen had grown to cherish. She rested her forehead against Hen's as she pulled away.
"Let's do it," Hen said. "Let's make an offer."
As Hen walked off toward the front door, Karen couldn't help but sigh. This house was their future, and she was looking forward to it.
7. First Time Bottoming—Buck and Tommy
Buck's eyes were pressed shut, soft moan after soft moan escaping his throat as he slowly lowered himself further and further onto Tommy's cock. He hadn't been sure what to expect from this, but now he knew that words simply couldn't describe the incredible feeling of Tommy prying and stretching him open, bit by fucking bit.
"Evan, if this is too much—"
Buck didn't let Tommy finish and bent down to crash their lips together, getting the last bit of his length into his hole in the process. "You're sweet," he panted with a smirk, pressing another kiss to Tommy's mouth, "but I really wanna fuck myself on your dick, okay?"
Tommy only let out an almost primal grunt, his hands grabbing at Buck's waist to lift him halfway off his crotch, only to slam him down again hard instantly.
Buck's breath caught in his throat for a split second before a loud mewl broke out of him, stars flashing before his eyes as Tommy's cock brushed against his prostate. "Fuck, fuck, fuck," he whimpered, his forehead pressed against Tommy's. "Again. Please."
Later, after they'd spent themselves, Buck lay curled up in Tommy's protective arms. He smiled. Best. Night. Ever!

Yeah... I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about BTTS to be honest. Although iirc Serling comes back with them, so thank god he'll be there to help me through that last difficult season. I could have done without most of s5. My favourite episode was Membership Drive because it was great seeing Nano get a happy ending and Mikey and Leo do another superhero team up with the Justice Force. The fact that it was the only episode NOT focused on the demon subplot...
Good point about Sh'okonabo - at least no one will ever call this guy original. Everything he does has been done more effectively by other villains in past seasons. I liked some of Laird's ideas for what they could have done with him, but ultimately it seems like he wasn't too happy with this guy either lol. Besides all the gross-out humour in that episode, I did find the evil goo episode fun, but oh my GODD the ending made the entire thing feel completely pointless.
Raph needs a hug, Mikey needs some antidepressants, and Leo needs his personality back. Don is the one thriving for once, and he has already been through so much, I won't take that away from him.
All the FF notes I've read from Laird's blog have been about TT2 so I haven't seen this Cody rant yet but omg I'm excited for it because it's a relief to know that everyone working on FF wasn't oblivious to how much he fucked the turtles over???? Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy when watching.
"It would make Cody look bad" GOOD!!!! GOD FORBID THE NEPO BABY HAS TO ANSWER TO HIS MISTAKE THAT HAS COMPLETELY UPROOTED THEIR LIVES, RIGHT???? They say never meet your heroes but how about never meet your fans??? These turtles didn't ask to be hero-worshipped, dumped 100 years in the future with no easy way home, and then forced to live with the person who got them into this mess. It would have been SUPER CATHARTIC to let Raph (or honestly, any of them) tear him a new one. I've been manifesting it in my rewatch and it just never happens!! The one thing that consoles me is knowing that when they returned to the present they left Cody in 2105 without Serling and with every single enemy they didn't manage to defeat because they were saving them for season 2. He is going to be so screwed and I'm living for it.
OH IF YOU DO I AM GOING TO EAT THIS UP. In fact please let me cameo in it. I'll help you Mr Dunn. Together we can end Scrappy Jones once and for all.
(Fun fact that isn't really relevant but I wasn't sure where else to put - Darius, Jammerhead and the Street Phantoms show up in the IDW comics! I haven't read to that point yet, so I can't say if they're anywhere near as cartoonish as they are in FF or if it gave them all a more grounded take. But it fascinated me when I found out that they exist outside of FF, especially Darius without Cody. I'm curious to find out what they did with him when I eventually get there lol. I'm relieved that they left Sh'Okonabo where he belongs, dead and buried.)
I think... highly controversial opinion here... I would have taken a second season of FF over BTTS, just because I feel like the cyber Shredder plot is bullshit, Serling doesn't deserve to get stuck 100 years in the past forever, and there were some fun concepts that I wish they'd explored. In my ideal version of FF2 maybe they realised FF1 fell short in a lot of ways and got their shit together and made a good fucking season as compensation, but I guess we'll never know if they would have improved it or not. If it was the same quality as FF1 I'd be annoyed but I'd probably still watch it. I'm dreading watching BTTS. Zell made me watch that webisode and I still have nightmares about it.
I'd end FF2 with the turtles and splinter returning home (without serling because my man has been through enough) through a time portal, only to find that all of their friends have been awaiting their return (maybe ancient one got a vision or smth) in a surprise party. they get embraced by everyone they have helped and loved along the way, and they sigh and say "it's good to be home". like the wedding but with way less awkwardness to it, and ofc I would give Leo and Usagi their much-desired reunion. Oh, and Klunk gets to be there, because I miss him so much in FF. Cody if you don't include a Klunk memorial shrine in your creepy little turtle museum I swear...
Turtle Titan 2 my beloved!!!!!! The fact that Laird wanted him to be a much bigger character in FF2 makes me so happy. He's one of the few characters/storylines I really, really like from FF, not just for who he is as a person but what he represents - that Mikey's compassion and sense of justice made a difference that has impact 100 years later. But ah well, if FF didn't want to use him more, their loss. He's mine now and I'm going to mold him like clay.
This........... actually never dawned on me until you pointed it out. Holy shit? You're right. Where are all the humans?!?!? My best explanation is maybe NNY is like a 'hub' for alien life on Earth compared to other major cities and countries, and that's why there's a higher alien-to-human ratio. I feel like the street phantoms are human, just using some sort of device that makes them ghostly?? But I could be wrong, I was NOT paying attention lol.
O'Neill Tech controlling so much of NNY is wild, because when you have one company running everything, that is HUGELY RISKY. It also feels like even if Darius wasn't actively trying to murder his nephew to gain control over the business, it's still operating under shady circumstances. Like do we really think April and Don would have wanted this cyberpunk hold on NNY? Personally I don't. I have to wonder if Cody's parents were even shadier than Darius is.
Cody is kept inside for ethical reasons. Darius is protecting the world from Cody, not the other way around.
I've wondered about the rest of the building!!!! Accommodation for O'Neill Tech employees maybe? Or maybe it's informally known as Nepo Baby Buildings to the locals.
My opinion on Serling completely changed once I realised what a NIGHTMARE he was up against. The fact that Splinter was actively participating in creating the mess and making jokes like "no it's not terrible that we trashed your home, it's terrible that my sons didn't catch the plate I just threw at the wall" is INSANE TO ME. WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?!!!! YOU'RE NOT THE HAMATOS I KNOW AND LOVE!!!!!! Serling is the only one calling them out for their obnoxious bullshit so he's where my solidarity lies now.
I actually love the idea that they're doing this to be passive-aggressive. I choose to believe that from now on.
Lastly - yes, what the hell happened to Leo's personality, did it get banished with the demon shredder? You're seriously telling me he wouldn't take this opportunity to take a night class on 16th Century Japanese Swordsmanship now that he is free to walk the streets? He wouldn't still patrol the rooftops for trouble because that's all they've known for so long? He wouldn't dig into what happened to the foot clan in the future, just in case things got bad again?
The shell thing could have had its own episode tbh. Picture this - medical technology has come a long way and during a routine physical for the turtles Cody repairs Leo's shell without even thinking to ask him first. It leads to an unexpected blow-up because even though what happened to him was terrible, having that scar taken from him without permission crossed a line and leads into a big 'this is what I hate about the future, and this is exactly the selfishness that made you strand us here' rant that blindsides everyone. Even Master Splinter doesn't understand. Leo flees and the guys go after him - some drama ensues - he is eventually found after idk fighting the street phantoms or something. Cody realises how much he's hurt Leo and apologises. Leo doesn't even understand himself why he's not happy at his shell being repaired, but it feels like another part of his story has been lost to time now, sanitised and stripped away from him. You have to take the bitter with the sweet.
By the end of the episode Leo makes peace with it but idk, maybe Cody learns to stay in his own fucking lane in future or something.

@love-killed-the-superstar I hope you don’t mind but this particular part of your recent liveblog just… really sparked something in my brain that I need to get out, re: Fast Forward, and it’s this repeating theme of FF rehashing a plot point from S1-4 but worse. Like the turtles version of a live action Disney reboot.
This turned into a massive rant, oops, more under the cut. Clearly, I have a lot of feelings about this.

♡ TW: break-up, angst, hung-up yandere, anger issues, insecurity, threats to regrets
♡ GN reader
Tumblr media
Thinking about pro-athlete ex-boyfriend…
You know, the one you broke up with because he couldn't focus on anything but his career, the one you just couldn’t stand by and watch any longer as he nearly ran his health into the ground—not to mention your relationship—all to reach his goals.
He’d been so mean—meaner than you ever thought possible when you told him you couldn’t do this anymore—said it was a real class act of you to abandon him now when it mattered most. He’d made it about you not wanting a pipe-dreaming wannabe sportsman for a boyfriend, how you never believed in him anyway, how you never cheered for him, how he thinks you don’t even want to see him succeed.
He’d been so loud and so ugly you’d been in shock for weeks afterward, unable to wrap your head around it. You didn’t even dare tell anyone—feeling it was a beast of burden you ought to keep for yourself. Oddly enough, you felt that if anyone knew or saw him like that, it would be not just detrimental to him and his image but embarrassing for you both.
And you hadn't spoken to him since. At least not face-to-face. He’d sent you a few drunk texts then and there, which you’d replied to in short, though mostly ignored. You’d thought about blocking him at one point, but you didn’t want to be dramatic, either. And suppose, in some way, you were still waiting for an apology.
But months passed, and nothing like it ever came, and so, instead of being bitter, you accepted that was just how the two of you ended. And that was that.
Still, it's a little awkward. You wonder if you should congratulate him on his rise in popularity, how he’s finally getting all those long hours spent training back in full—but somehow, you feel it would just sound petty coming from you. And so, you don’t bother.
He’s got other people in his life cheering him on now—he doesn’t need a measly text from his ex. No, it's better to leave it be, is what you think.
Which is why it’s surprising when you get the dinner invitation.
And following the initial surprise, you don’t really know what to expect of it either. But you end up accepting—some part out of curiosity, wondering what he might want after all this time, and another part hopeful it was to finally address the awful break up so that the both of you could move on without it hanging heavy over your heads and hearts.
This, however, was the last thing you had in mind when sitting down with him for the first time in a long time.
“Will you marry me?”
Your whole body flares up with something reminiscent of the feeling when you trip and fall—that type of split burn that rushes through you from head to toe and then leaves you feeling cold all over. Heart in your throat, you’re speechless.
Or no, you just don’t know where to begin.
“What are you doing?” you end up accusing—a little too harshly, maybe, but who could blame you? Looking around, you’re glad your table’s in a more private sector of the restaurant before you look back at him, eyes wide and brows knit.
“I–we broke up a year ago and haven’t seen each other since—and you’re—” Your eyes fall back to the thing in his hands. It’s an outrageous ring. “Asking me to marry you?”
He makes no move to withdraw the offer—keeping his hands where they are, on your side of the table. “You said yes to the dinner. That must mean something. I thought—”
“Yeah. It means that I still worry about you,” you say. “It doesn't mean–”
“I fought my way up. I’m finally at the top,” he cuts you off in earnest. “I’m the best, and the world finally knows it now–”
“I don't care about any of that,” you state, feeling it should have been something you told him from the very beginning. “I'm sorry. But I never cared about you being the best. I just wanted…”
You just wanted the two of you to be like other couples—together and happy. You just wanted that to be enough, but it never was for him.
“Never mind…” you end up saying. “I think I should go.”
You’re about to get up when his hand, suddenly around your wrist, tightens in a harsh grip.
“I don't think you understand,” he utters, voice lowered with a hint of a growl. “It’s either this ring or I bury you in rumors that won’t leave you a moment’s worth of peace.”
You go stiff while looking back at him.
Did he just… did he just threaten you?
You blink. He's got that same warped expression you remember from the last time you saw him, that very odd look as if the guy you know has been switched out with someone entirely different.
Only this time, it just as quickly disappears, and he lets go of your wrist, quickly pulling his hand to himself.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that–I’m just—” he apologizes with a stutter, looking startled.
He puts his face in his hands. Then there's a sound—close to a sob.
“I’m just a mess without you.”
Goosebumps rise on the surface of your skin when hearing it. And swallowing thickly, you sit back down again, albeit a bit begrudgingly. But spotting how he trembles, you just can’t stop feeling sorry for him.
You sigh. “No, you’re not. You just…” Reaching across the table, you stroke his arm. “You just lose your head a little sometimes, that’s all.”
He peaks up from his hands. A sheen under his eyes reflects the ceiling light, and your heart twists in your chest.
He really is a mess.
“But I know you…” you try smiling. “You were always destined for greatness.”
He takes your offered hand in his, stroking it, then sniffs, voice fluttering weakly, “Yeah, well…”
He keeps his head low, resting it in his other hand as if he just couldn't muster the strength to sit straight or even attempt to pull himself together.
“If I'm so great, why wouldn’t you stay?”
He sounds as if he’s been holding things back for the entirety of the year since you left. Broken now... it's all spilling out.
“Because," you start, even though your throat’s tight and you’re fighting back tears of your own, your mind hasn’t changed.
You didn’t come here to get back together.
"You want to go places, I just can’t follow.”

Love and Deepspace boys comforting you through stressful situations.
Tumblr media
Info : 3.3k+ word count (about 700-900 per part), hurt/comfort, angst mixed with fluff, talks of periods (Zaynes part), mentions of throwing up (Zaynes part), mentions of harassment (Sylus part), hinted violence/murder (Sylus part).
Note : I had such a hard week I had to write about it, I hope some girlies here will relate because wow I would love to have Rafayel comfort me after I did in fact miss 3 of my trains two days ago 😭 Reqs are open!
Tumblr media
Rafayel
The day was hard for you.
Ever since you met Rafayel, you thought your life would only be happy and it worked for a while, whenever he was with you, you were just so happy. No matter if something happened, if you messed something up, he was there to cheer you up.
But not today, since he had an exhibition to attend and one you sadly couldn't come to because of your work schedule. You were assigned a mission in a nearby city, it wasn't extremely far, about an hour away by train, but it was for multiple days which caused you to miss him, phone calls weren't enough.
Earlier that day, you were getting ready to leave to go to the station, but something came up so you had to take care of that first and later on you had to rush to catch your train but about halfway you realised it wasn't worth it. That's fine, just a minor setback, surely you will make it to the next train, right?
Wrong, just as you were getting ready to catch a taxi, you realised you didn't have your wallet so you had to run back to your hotel which took a while and you almost tripped while doing that since your suitcase was full but it didn't matter, you just wanted to make it home back to Rafayel. Well, it took way longer than you thought and you wouldn't be able to make it as you only had a few minutes and you weren't even at the station. That's okay, there is another train, you will just arrive a little later, or so you thought.
As it turned out, the next train was in two hours.
Whopping two hours.
And oh you cried, it was so stressful to miss the first few trains but now that you found it that you will have to sit two hours, in a city away from home, from your boyfriend, out in the cold, with a heavy bag - that was enough to make you break down.
In the middle of the street, you reached for your phone with a shaky hand and pressed the call button. It rang a few times and you felt so bad for interrupting him, because it was his day, but you had no idea what else to do.
He picked it up after a few moments.
“Oh hey cutie! It's so good to hear you, it's boring here without you, you know. What's up?”
You wanted to answer but hearing his cheerful voice somehow made you cry even more and you started sobbing. Clearly, he heard.
“.. Woah, are you crying? What happened? Are you hurt?”
“N-no, it's not that Rafayel…”
“What is it then, talk to me. I'll make you all feel better.”
“It's just… I missed the last few of my trains and now I have to wait two hours.. I'm so so sorry, I tried to make it, but then my coworkers needed something last minute, then later on I forgot a wallet and now it turns out the next train is in damn two hours and I don't know what to do because it's freezing cold, I'm all alone and it's getting dark and I'm scared.” You just sobbed out into the phone all your thoughts as you tightly gripped onto your bag as you did your best to hold yourself upright.
There was silence on the line for a moment as he was hearing you out and processing the information you gave him, then he finally answered.
“Don’t apologize, it happens sometimes cutie. Where are you right now?” Rafayel asked, surprisingly calm as he did his best to soothe you.
“At the train station.. I should be back home in 3 hours. I'm so sorry, I thought I would make it back home before your exhibition ends so I would be able to surprise you or perhaps attend the ending of it but I messed up..”
“Okay, don't apologize, it happens and I don't blame you, you know that right? Stay where you are, transport will be there soon enough.”
“Transport..? What do you mean?”
“I'm going to pick you up, duh. You didn't think I would let you sit out there for two hours, right?”
“No you can't do that, you have your exhibition to attend. I'll do fine on my own, really-” He cut you off. You weren't sure what you were expecting but surely it wasn't that he would pick you up, the city was almost an hour away by car.
“Yeah yeah, an important exhibition or something. Thomas can handle the rest, I sat there for longer than usual anyways, but I can't just sit here and do nothing while my lovely partner sits somewhere and is clearly uncomfortable.”
“You just hang on tight sweetheart, alright? I will be there soon, why don't you stay with me on the line while I drive so you will feel more safe, hm?” He added and you can hear the faint sounds of an engine starting from the other side of the line. He really did just decide to pick you up.
“Yeah, that will be perfect.. thank you Rafayel.” You wiped some of your tears, feeling better now after hearing his reassurance
“No problem. And hey,”
“Hm?”
“You are pretty strong, miss bodyguard, but it's no shame to let some of those tears fall sometimes, yeah?”
Zayne
You were currently crying in Zaynes bedroom as you felt another cramp in your abdomen. It hurt, it hurt so much but worse of all, you weren't expecting your period, it came early so you had to come back from work because you had no pads and practically bled through your hunters uniform, how embarrassing…
For some reason, this period was extremely painful for you. You couldn't eat because you felt nauseous, you had terrible mood swings to the point of overthinking everything, you felt dizzy whenever you moved and you were craving chocolate but you ran out. You ran out of all your supplies actually, which was just great. That was why you were at Zaynes house, he always had things stocked for you and you had the keys to it, so you sometimes went there when you needed comfort, like now.
So, with no one else to call, you decided to reach out to one person you were sure would help you when you felt like you were dying:
Zayne, your boyfriend and a doctor.
“Hello sweetheart, I just finished a surgery, is everything alright?” Your boyfriend asked and it was such a relief to hear his voice.
“No, not really… I feel really bad, Zayne. When do you get off from work?” You asked, trying not to sound desperate and to not make him worry, you felt like crying but you didn't want him to rush out of his job just to help you.
“My shift ends in about 3 hours, but what’s wrong? I can be home quicker if you need me.”
“... It's alright then, it's nothing serious, I can wait.” You tried your best to keep your voice stable as you curled into yourself more at the feeling of another cramp.
Clearly, it didn't work.
After a few moments of silence, Zayne spoke up again.
“I will be home in about 40 minutes. Try to stay calm for now, okay?” He quickly let you know and hung up before you even had the chance to tell him not to.
While you waited for him, you just lied on the bed, the heating bottle doing barely anything at this point as you sobbed at the discomfort. You felt terrible that he was rushing out of his very serious job just to help you, during something as silly as your period, you could handle it on your own after all.
After about 40 minutes, right as expected, he came back home.
“Here you are, I was so worried. What's wrong?” Zayne quickly came up to you and tilted your head gently to look you in the eyes, to try and spot any visible injury on your body and see how you were feeling.
You wanted to answer, you really did, but all that came out were sobs, pitiful, loud, sobs. He really did come home from the hospital just to help you, because he thought that you were seriously injured. He was an amazing boyfriend, you didn't deserve him for calling him for something like this.
“Hey, hey it's alright now. I'm here, calm down. Breathe in and out for me, okay?” He did his best to wipe away the tears coming down your cheeks and help you calm down, he hugged you tight and just held you in his arms until he felt you calm down slightly.
“Tell me what's wrong. I'll help you right away but I need to know what to do. I can't bear to see you cry like that..”
“I'm so so sorry, Zayne… I'm just on period, it came early and it's so goddamn painful for some reason, I was throwing up after everything I ate, I feel dizzy and overall awful and I didn't know what to do so I called you.. and now you are here, handling something stupid instead of saving someone's life, I'm sorry..” You sobbed into his shoulder as he held onto you so tightly as if you would disappear, you really hoped he would forgive you.
He was stunned for a moment, did he hear you right? You were apologising to him for asking for help? While you were sick? And he was a doctor?
Slowly and gently he pulled away from you, just to look you in the eyes as you were still sobbing.
“My love, you know you never need to feel sorry for that, right? I would drop everything even if I was in the middle of surgery if something ever happened to you.” He comforted you softly, patting your head and waving his hand through your hair in an effort to calm you down.
When your sobbing became soft crying instead, he decided to treat you. Zayne went ahead and found some painkillers, ones that should help for period pain and he also brewed some tea for you. After taking the medication, he sat next to you while you laid down on the bed, still all curled up.
“How do you feel? Are your symptoms getting better?” He asked, his voice so tender yet professional and you couldn't help but laugh at that.
“Yes, I feel much better, thanks to you Dr. Zayne.”
“Good, that's what I was hoping to hear. After your nausea goes down, I will make you something light to eat and then I can order some of those fancy desserts you like. How about that? You deserve it after such a hard day.”
Xavier
Okay, everything should be ready. Your briefcase is packed, all the documents are ready, your outfit is perfect and you even managed to wake up early to do some makeup and eat a healthy breakfast, what an amazing start to your day! Well, we won't talk about the fact you spilled coffee on your white shirt and had to change, but it worked out anyways.
You were very nervous, but also hopeful since so far everything was going almost exactly how it should be. Jenna was counting on you that day to deliver a presentation in front of the media about Linkons safety and actions your department would implement in the near future to improve even more and keep Wanderers away. It was a big deal, one that could perhaps also result in you getting a raise or a promotion so you wanted to do good.
As you were on the commute, which was of course packed, you were texting with your partner and boyfriend - Xavier. You woke up earlier than him to prepare so he was still at home as he didn't start his shift for a few more hours, despite that he still woke up early to chat with you and keep your nerves at bay.
During the ride, it was all fine at first but then at the next station even more people rushed in and the space was so tight, you could barely breathe. It was extremely uncomfortable as everyone was pressed against you and it was loud, very loud, too loud to even hear your thoughts. And of course, the commute had some issues, so you were stuck in one place for about 10 minutes.
After a very uncomfortable ride to work, you finally showed up, running quite late but you still had enough time to prepare so it was fine. You sat at your desk to go over the presentation when you realised. You forgot to bring the damn pendrive from home. You thought you saved it on your laptop but no, you searched for it and it wasn't anywhere and Jenna was about to come in and probably ask you about it!
You were ready to cry, honestly. You tried to be positive, not let everything bug you but you were stressed because you worked on the presentation for multiple days now and you were only about 10 minutes away from presenting it in front of the media but you didn't have it!
But there was still hope. You called your boyfriend who was probably napping since he didn't respond to your last text message that you sent him while you were still on your way to work, but hopefully he wouldn't be mad that you woke him up.
“Hm? Are you at work already? What's wrong?” He muttered sleepily.
“Xavier are you still at home?”
“Yes, did you forget something?”
“.. How did you know?”
“Just figured. You were nervous about this, it's only natural for someone to forget something during such a stressful day.”
“Yes, I don't have my pendrive… Could you perhaps get it from my apartment and deliver it to me, please? I'm literally about to present it in a few minutes, I can't mess this up!” You hoped he would be able to do this for you, you were almost crying but you didn't want to ruin your makeup so you held back and you guessed that he heard it.
“Okay calm down starlight. I will be there in a few moments, so take a deep breath, and you will do great. I know it. So don't stress so much and keep that wonderful smile on your face when you present, I will be there in the crowd to cheer you up.
And Xavier did come, in only two minutes he teleported to work with your pendrive and also some of your makeup to fix you up after crying. And he kept his word because he was there, in the crowd, right behind the cameras to keep your spirits up during your presentation. Afterwards, the two of you went to a hot pot spot to celebrate the successful presentation and your pay raise.
Sylus
After work, you decided to go have some fun in the nearby mall. You were working hard lately, so why not reward yourself a little bit?
There was a new movie coming out, you originally wanted to go see it with Sylus but he sadly had some work to do, so you decided to go on your own. It was amazing and you loved it, you had great seats right at the centre and there weren't many ads at the beginning so it felt like it was going to be perfect. However, somewhere in the middle of the film, you noticed two guys that were sitting next to you, they kept laughing and looking over at you, but you didn't think much of it.
After the movie you went to do some shopping. You entered one of your favourite stores and started browsing, there were a few cute things so you picked them and went to another aisle. As you walked around the store, you saw the same guys that sat next to you during the movie, but perhaps it was just a coincidence so you brushed it off. The shop had clothes for males as well after all so it was nothing suspicious, Sylus bought clothes there sometimes whenever he went shopping with you.
After you made your choice, you went ahead and paid at the till. The same two guys stood right behind you and they looked over you and your choice of clothes. There were some shoes, shirts and a few dresses, because who doesn't love a good shopping trip to spice up their wardrobe? Well, they looked at you in a way that you didn't really like, so you just swiped the black card and took your things neatly packed in bags before storming out.
It was fine, you convinced yourself. They perhaps were there looking for something. Maybe they just thought you looked familiar. Maybe they were your coworkers that you didn't recognise.
No matter, you decided to go to a nearby store to buy some makeup that you were running low on. As you peacefully browsed through the isles of products, searching for some face masks and skincare products for you and your boyfriend to enjoy later, you spotted them again. This time, however, they decided to talk to you.
“Hey, I have a question.” One guy dared to say, you decided to try and ignore him, despite how scared you were. What was their business with you? Normally you would know how to handle this but well, you were in public, so you couldn't just get rid of them as much as you wanted to.
“Did you hear me?”
“Are you single, perhaps? Or were all those beautiful clothes for some lame ass boyfriend?” The second man asked.
“Yeah, we can treat you much better, you know. Why don't you give us a show in those clothes?
And you were crying, at that point. Who the hell were these guys? Why were they doing that? And the worst part? The store was packed, so it was loud and no one else heard or paid attention to what was going on in the corner you were in.
Luckily though, someone appeared at the right moment.
It all happened quite quickly, you were crying and shaking while trying your best to ignore the guys or get away and the next moment, a certain black and red mist pulled you closer to the side of your hero, Sylus.
“I'm sure you guys would love to have a show, but that sight is only reserved for me.” He said in his usual tone yet you could see the daggers in his gaze at the guys while they stared in shock. You, however, were very happy to see him as suddenly all your worries disappeared and you hugged him tightly.
“There you are, sweetie. How are you doing? Did you have fun on your spa day?” He asked in a soft tone as his attention switched to you and he lifted your head to see how you were holding up.
“Yeah, I'm all better now… Thank you, Sy.” You smiled warmly at him as you wiped the rest of your tears.
“Wait… where are the guys that were here a minute ago?-” You asked after you looked back in the direction of where the two men stood earlier, but you saw nothing.
“Oh don't worry about it. Why don't we finish up here and then get something nice to eat, hm?”
“For the next time, if someone even dares to do this, just call me. I will always pick up if it's from you and take care of any of those pests that bother you.”
Sure enough, you never found out what happened to them but all you know is Sylus probably didn't let them get away with it alive. He took you to a fancy place to eat afterwards and you stayed the night at his place.

Soft as a Feather
Spencer Reid x Female BAU Reader WORD COUNT: 869
Summary: You and Spencer have decided to keep your relationship private, but when he comes into work with a mysterious lipstick mark on his neck, everybody's asking questions he doesn't know how to answer... at least, that's until you come in and leave a strangely familiar kiss mark on his cheek.
Content Warning: kissing (does that even need a warning)
────── ꒰ঌ·✦·໒꒱ ──────
It's always the most wonderful feeling, waking up next to Spencer. Especially on mornings like this one—when he's still sleeping peacefully, the early-morning sunlight peeking through the curtains and somehow making him look even more like an angel than usual.
You cannot physically stop yourself from reaching out to him, brushing a lock of hair out of his face with your finger and tucking it behind his ear, smiling softly to yourself.
"What're you doing?" he asks groggily, eyes still closed, but a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"I'm sorry," you whisper, leaning forward and leaving a tiny peck on the tip of his nose, "I didn't mean to wake you, sweetheart."
"Didn't wake me," he tries to argue, but the sleep in his voice suggests otherwise.
You're a profiler, he should know by now that it's practically impossible to lie to you, especially since you know him like the back of your hand—better than the back of your hand, maybe.
"Whatever you say, Spence."
Unwilling to break the peaceful quiet you're both submerged in, you watch him a moment longer, before finally forcing your eyes away.
Spencer opens his eyes, watching as you push the blankets off yourself and get to your feet. "What're you doing now?"
"We do have a job to get to, Spencer," you remind him with a little chuckle.
He groans and rolls onto his back, stretching out his limbs. "Can't we just call in sick and stay here all day?"
You shake your head and hand him a pile of clothes before beginning to dress yourself. "Remember that huge case we need to get started on today—the one Hotch called about last night?"
Spencer sighs heavily, but nods and crawls out of bed, pulling on the clothes you've chosen for him. You've already left by the time he's finished getting dressed, standing in the kitchen and hurriedly trying to pour coffee into two travel cups.
"We'll need to leave now if we wanna get to work on time," you mumble as you hand him one of the two travel cups—the one with the little blue flowers printed along the bottom.
You press your lips firmly to the skin beneath his jaw, then again to his lips before practically flying out the door.
────── ꒰ঌ·✦·໒꒱ ──────
"Has our pretty boy finally found himself a pretty girl?"
Spencer flinches at the sudden voice beside him, turning to look at the smug grin on Morgan's face.
It wasn't like you and Spencer really wanted to keep your relationship a secret from your friends, but it was so much easier without the teasing and word-twisting that would surely come from Derek.
"What's this about Spencer having a girlfriend?"
Garcia suddenly appears beside Morgan, tilting her head curiously before her already-wide eyes widen further, nearly bulging out of their sockets.
"I don't know where either of you are getting that idea, but it's unprofessional in the workplace," Spencer mutters, his mind briefly flicking back to you.
You haven't come in yet, usually waiting a few minutes after Spencer goes in to avoid any suspicion.
"What's unprofessional is the—"
Morgan is abruptly cut off by your arrival, bursting through the doors in a flurry of positivity.
You don't say anything as you drop your things off at your desk and casually stroll over to where everyone's huddled. "There's a party at Spencer's desk, and I wasn't invited. I'm crushed, you guys!"
You and Spencer were close before, almost to a strange degree, which might be part of the reason nobody thought any different when the two of you got together, so nobody questions it when you lean down and leave a slobbery kiss on his cheek.
Nobody questions it, until you pull away from him, leaving behind a reddish-brown lipstick print on his cheek.
One that matches the one on his jaw perfectly.
Garcia's jaw drops in shock, and Morgan looks overjoyed. For selfish reasons, of course, but overjoyed nonetheless.
"When were you going to tell me you two were dating?" Garcia demands, almost angrily as you wipe away the print with a tissue from your pocket.
Both you and Spencer immediately freeze. You look like you've seen a ghost, all the color drained from your face, and Spencer is quite the opposite, his face red and hot. So... like he's seen a living person?
That makes absolutely no sense.
"What are you t-talking about?" he manages, frantically looking between the two gawking agents. Even if it weren't for the lipstick, the slight stutter in his voice was enough to give him away.
Neither of them say a word, but Morgan gestures to his own jaw with a finger. There is a lipstick print there from this morning, one that neither of you had noticed, identical to the one you've just wiped off Spencer's cheek.
Well shit.
"Uhm... we were going to tell you," you try to reason, but they've already left, telling everyone within ears reach (and still further) about what they've just found out.
"We should probably go tell Hotch before they do," he suggests weakly, getting up from the chair.
Gently pulling him along by his arm, you nod. "I absolutely agree."

⋆⭒˚.⋆ can I call her what she is? ⋆⭒˚.⋆
summary: Doyoung has a new girlfriend and she makes it very clear to you and you alone that she doesn't like you. Too bad no one believes you
(cw: f!reader, cursing, side character is a bitch, the guys are idiots, angsty with a happy ending!)
You liked to think you were a likable person. You were kind, you had good manners, you were polite, you were never rude, but now you were starting to rethink it all. Ever since Doyoung's girlfriend, Jane, started hanging around, actually. They hadn't been together long, but she was a strong character so it was no wonder she wormed her way into hanging around with you guys.
It wasn't that she was outright mean, but she was snide and passive aggressive. Only to you it seemed. You really should have been in a better state of mind too, you and fratboy!Jaehyun had been official now for a few weeks now. There was a lot of texting over winter break and a lot of time spent together since school started back up. However, you were still a little iffy about you two being together. Old insecurities hadn't yet been quelled and Jane being a bitch just made you feel worse.
Somehow Jane had finagled her way into a Sunday dinner, an event usually reserved the brothers and their partners. It made sense, but usually partners didn't show up within the first month of dating. Jane and Doyoung had only been together for three weeks from what you understood, and you knew better than anyone that being around this group of guys could be a lot. You'd attended a few times before you and Jaehyun were official and you remember being beyond overwhelmed.
You and Taeyong were in the kitchen, plating up the take out you guys had ordered. The kitchen was loud since everyone was hanging out waiting for the last few people to show up. It was like every other Sunday dinner, loud laughing, lots of talking, and complaining about Johnny being gone, some kind of family emergency.
Doyoung led Jane into the kitchen and you watched as she went around the room and greeted everyone. You exhaled a long breath, watching as she greeted Taeyong with a wave and a smile on her face. You waved at her, smiling, "Hey Jane, it's so good to see you again."
The smile on her face freezes, the smile no longer reaching her eyes, "right, so good to see you too."
The weird feeling you always get around her settles into your stomach as dinner progresses. The guys hang on Jane's every word as she explains some kind of biological chemistry phenomenon. Even you have to admit it's interesting, but then she turns to you. The smile on her face is sweet, but you know that look. She's about to say something rude to you.
She clears her throat as she turns to you, "and I'm sorry, what was your major again? Something with children, right?"
"Yeah, I'm an elementary education major," you nod. Jaehyun smiles as he rubs your back, encouraging this connection between the ladies of Nu Chi Theta.
"Of course you are," Jane nods, "you know, times have changed. Women are more than able to pick something in fields that aren't already overrun by females."
You open your mouth to respond, but nothing comes out and Jane's attention is drawn elsewhere with a smug smirk in your direction. What the fuck was her problem?
The dinner ends not too much later, though you had hoped it would have ended sooner. Jane has gone home, something about chemistry homework or whatever. You stay at the table gnawing on your bottom lip as the guys continue to talk around you. You turn to Jaehyun on your right, your voice low, "do you think Jane is mean to me?"
His brows furrow, "what are you talking about? She's nice to everyone."
You helplessly turn to Haechan who sits on your left. He's always had your back, surely he'll believe you, right? "Do you think Jane is weird with me?"
"Did she say something mean to you?" Haechan asks, you nod sincerely, "I didn't catch that. What did she say?"
"About my major being overrun with females," you explain slowly.
Haechan cocks his head to the side, "well, teaching is a field dominated by women so she wasn't really wrong though was she?"
After that night you start to second guess yourself. Were you overthinking it? Was she not being mean to you? Were you making it all up? Still, you find that you don't attend the Sunday dinners because you know she'll be there. When you can't avoid her, you just get quiet and don't interact as much as you normally would.
Tonight though, you cant avoid it. All your excuses have run out and unfortunately telling Jaehyun your pet chinchilla was sick didn't work. You sit in your usual seat, poking at the food on your plate with a blank look on your face.
You can feel Jane's bitchy energy focused right on you. Great, here comes another blow. She sets her cup down, "so did you help Taeyong make dinner tonight?"
You shake your head, not looking up from your plate, "no."
"No wonder it tastes better," she laughs and to your dismay, the rest of the table bursts out in chuckles too.
"But we usually order take out, so she doesn't cook anyway," you hear Johnny pipe up. You look up, feeling a sense of hope and an immense sense of appreciation for your friend.
It's barely enough to deter Jane. She waves off Johnny's comment with another laugh, "so how long have Sunday dinners been for official partners? I know you and Jaehyun haven't been official for very long, right?"
Jaehyun pipes up, "Since the middle of December, happiest days of my life since then."
The other guys roll their eyes playfully, having heard enough about the two of you to know that they won't miss out on anything as they return to their own conversations. Her brows furrow as she leans in from her seat across from you, "Doyoung mentioned that you two had a think going on for months before, so were you just a booty call? Did you trick him into making it official?"
"Ha, trick me," Jaehyun chuckles. Your brows furrow as you look at him with a look of complete hurt. Did he not hear everything she said?
"And I mean really, besides his good looks, what was so appealing about Jaehyun? He had a reputation for sticking his dick anywhere didn't he? I don't think I'd ever let a man disrespect me the way he disrespected you," she shrugs her shoulders, looking around the table at all the guys who have now gone silent.
Johnny coughs out in shock, "yo, what the fuck, Jane?"
"I'm just being honest," Jane shrugs, "it's not that serious."
"No! It is that serious. No one asked you to be honest about shit that doesn't have the slightest thing to do with you," Johnny counters.
"It's just girl talk John, typical female conversation," Jane rolls her eyes.
"But it's not a conversation when Sweets hasn't even said more than one word. You're being really fucking rude. There's no reason to dredge up old wounds for my friends and make a mess where you're not involved at all," Jonnny argues.
"She also implied that I'm a slut," Jaehyun pipes up.
Johnny holds his open palm out in Jaehyun's direction, "I just watched you let Jane stomp all over your girlfriend and decimate her self esteem, you don't get to be defended right now. You fucking laughed about Jane saying Sweets was just a booty call, bro!"
"Johnny, it's alright..." you offer quietly.
"It's really not though. Is this the first time she's talked to you like this?" Johnny asks.
Beside you Haechan shakes his head softly, "it's not. She made some comments a few weeks ago and Sweets asked us about it."
"And that's why you haven't been coming to the dinners, isn't it?" Johnny asks.
You're barely able to nod before Jaehyun is tugging you into his arms in a tight hug and apologizing profusely right in your ear, "I was such an idiot. I'm so sorry, Sweetheart. I'm always going to listen to whatever you say and agree no matter what."
Johnny clears his throat, "I'm sorry to do this to your girlfriend, Doyoung, but I'm going to have to invoke my power as vice president of this frat and ask that you leave, Jane."
Doyoung chokes on his drink, "have you been telling people you're my girlfriend?"
"Yes, because I said I am," Jane rolls her eyes as she stands.
"You're my lab partner in chemistry that can't tell when she's overstayed her welcome. You heard Johnny, bye," Doyoung waves.
She strides away with a scoff, telling Doyoung she was breaking up with him. Everyone looks around the table awkwardly before Haechan clears his throat, "we owe you an apology Sweets."
The table of frat boys nods, all expressing their words of apology as Jaehyun holds you tightly and presses a kiss to the top of your head. Haechan groans, "well, can I call her what she is without anyone getting offended? She was a mega bitch!"
"Cheers to that," Jaehyun chuckles, raising his cup.

a new chance. l Joel Miller
Tumblr media
Summary: he asked you one of the most important questions
Warnings: fluff, talking and a lot about what they feel, emotions, some tears, talking about pregnancy, not much happens, don't count on smut (I'm bad at it)
A/N: .
your feedback is very important to me and I thank you for all the reblogs, comments and likes. 🖤 sorry for all the mistakes
short stories from life. [masterlist]
The forest rustled quietly as you and Joel delved deeper into it. Summer was coming to an end and you could feel the approaching autumn in the air. You rarely patrolled together, but when Shane, because of Ann's cold, asked Joel to go instead of him, you didn't even hesitate.
It was good to go outside the walls of Jackson together. Like when you had hiked to get there, and you still had a few fond memories from that time.
Joel walked close to you. His strong arms were tanned from working outside, and his rifle hung on his shoulder. You didn't have to talk much, sometimes it was enough to just be there. So you let your thoughts wander, you admired the space around you, and sometimes you squeezed Joel's fingers lightly when he touched your hand every now and then.
For some time now, Joel had been a bit different, mysterious, lost in thought. You could see it in his eyes when you caught him looking at you, somehow differently and longer than usual. It wasn't anything bad, you also knew he would have told you if it was something that involved Ellie or your safety. But when you decided to go on this patrol together, you also hoped that you would be able to talk to him about it.
"It's nothing, honey." he replied when you asked him about it after lunch together. He put on his backpack and straightened up.
"Are you sure?" you asked. "You know I always..."
"I know, honey." he leaned down and kissed your temple. "Come on, we still have some walking to do."
You walked another few miles and the sun slowly began to set. The sky took on a beautiful color and you couldn't take your eyes off it. The air smelled of grass and something sweet. It was just good. It was like the whole world had calmed down for a moment.
"Can I ask you something?" his voice made you look away from the horizon. Only then did you notice that he had been staring at you for a long moment.
"Sure, ask." you replied.
"Tell me, baby, have you ever considered that I could be the father of your child? That we could start a family, live a normal life and everything? Would you like that?"
A small wrinkle appeared between your eyebrows, your lips parted slightly. Joel had the impression that he must have surprised you, that you didn't fully understand his question. He approached you uncertainly.
"I know the last pregnancy was a surprise and... fuck, I can still picture you in my mind, in that fucking clinic when it all happened. But when I see you with Ann's son, when I see you with Ellie... Tell me I'm not crazy, because this whole thing scares me so fucking much."
He held it all in for so long that he almost felt relief when the words left his mouth. You stood before him stunned, but you weren't angry or ashamed. Your eyes watched Joel carefully and only after a few long seconds did you speak.
"I was afraid of myself, you know. I would never want to force you into anything and I know what you think about it. It's not a bad thing." You added quickly, seeing that Joel wanted to say something "I feel good with you and that was enough for me. But... You once said that you wanted to have everything with me..." Joel nodded "I want everything too, Joel. With you. And I'm not afraid to want it. I..." tears welled up in your eyes, Joel felt the same "I'm in if you want it too. I want everything." A sob tore itself from your throat and you covered your mouth with your hand, but you couldn't hide your smile.
But Joel was already by your side. His hands cupped your face, his thumbs brushing your wet cheeks. "This is fucking crazy, babe."
"Yeah, totally." you chuckled through your tears. Now he smiled too.
Joel pulled your lips into a sweet, but hungry kiss. In between kisses and smiles, he felt excitement and happiness grow in his chest. He loved you more than he had ever loved anyone before. It made him feel safe, whole, at peace. Yes, the world was fucked up, but when he looked at you and Ellie, he found hope and strength. He wanted to have everything again.
If Joel lost his mind because he was thinking about having a baby, then you were crazy for agreeing to it. It was a whole process and you were surprised by how it went. The first pregnancy was a surprise, neither of you planned it or were ready for it. But Joel, despite his own fears and concerns, rose to the occasion as a partner and supported you every day. But it took you longer.
The loss was painful for both of you. If it weren't for the strength of what connected you, your paths would probably have diverged. But somehow what happened connected you even more.
Underneath the love there was friendship, there was trust, there was care and a sense of security. Even if fate would not give you any more children, the knowledge that you wanted to experience this together was really valuable and important to you.
Joel felt like he could finally start living again. It wasn't like he hadn't done it before. Ellie and you, Tommy and Maria, even Ann and Shane - they had all given his life new meaning. But he wanted something of his own. Was that selfish? Maybe. But Joel also wanted to finally get something more out of this life...
And you? Joel and Ellie were the first people you had allowed to get close to you in a long time. It wasn't easy. But you got to know each other and soon every day was easier. It wasn't like you couldn't live without Joel, you chose to live with him. You were equal and similar in some ways. Maybe you had more faith in people, maybe Joel was more distant, but both of you would do anything for the people closest to you.
“If the world was normal and we met in it…” Joel looked up from his book and took off his glasses, looking at you. You stepped out of the bathroom, your hair still damp from the shower and your shirt stuck to your body. “Would you have noticed me then?”
"What kind of question is that?" Joel asked, tilting his head. You sat down on the bed next to him and shrugged.
"I wonder... Would you have noticed me or not?"
"Probably not," he replied.
"You're not even trying to lie?" you chuckled patting his shoulder "You're awful."
"Honey..." he sighed. "If the world was normal, you wouldn't notice me. Maybe I'd have grandchildren or something. If I saw you somewhere, I'd probably think you were a hottie and wish I was younger to talk to you. But what chance would I have?"
You thought for a moment until you finally nodded. "Yeah. I guess you're right."
You were lost in thought for a moment, and Joel watched you closely. Since that conversation on patrol, you hadn't brought it up, returning to your daily duties. Ann was still weak, so you immediately ran to help her and Shane. You returned late, and Joel promised the Russos that he would do some minor repairs at their restaurant. He secretly hoped that he could ask them to re-cook one of your favorite dishes.
Finally his warm hand took yours and brought it to his lips, he kissed the back of it. “I wish I had a chance with you if the world was normal. But now I have it, and I think it’s the best thing that’s happened to me since everything went to hell.”
You smiled at him slightly. "Do you really think so?" you asked quietly.
"Of course, honey. C’mere."
You moved closer and snuggled into his warm body. His arms wrapped around you, and Joel kissed the top of your head.
"When you saved Ellie, that time at the river..."
"I just helped her." You interrupted him quietly, but Joel didn't give in.
“You saved her. And then you saved me too.” He said. “It took us a long time, but we’re here now. Let’s see what fate has in store for us.”
"No pressure?"
"Totally. Let's see what happens."
You nodded, then snuggled into Joel even more. He was your rock, your shelter, your home.
And you were his.

Hi! Love your work so much! I have a very vague prompt and it’s just Tommy being emotionally vulnerable with Buck. Idc what about I just need this man in tears please and thanks.
well this got longer than intended! i've skimmed over it but basically banged it out in fifteen minutes bc turns out i also need this man in tears
When the bubble pops six weeks after Tommy walked out of the loft, it's not at all what Buck was expecting. He'd hoped for an 'I'm sorry', an 'I was wrong', an 'I want you back'. In bitter moments, he'd even hoped for Tommy to say something really dickish so Buck could just hate him and get on with his life. Hell, even a random string of letters that Buck could interpret as an accident or an attempt to open the lines of communication depending on his mood.
What he gets is:
I've been going to therapy
Finally, right?
I hate it
And then radio silence for the better part of an hour. Buck is about to tear his hair out. He drafts and doesn't send half a dozen responses. The loft smells of chocolate cake by the time the next message comes through.
Sorry, call.
Tell me to get lost, it's fine. But I was wondering if we could talk. I owe you an explanation.
Buck reads it twice, takes the cake out of the oven to cool. Scrolls back up to read the messages from the start. Later, once the cake is filled with sharp redcurrant jelly and covered in a perhaps overly generous layer of toffee buttercream, he picks up his phone again.
I owe you an explanation is glaring at him.
Yeah you do, he sends back. Come over when your shift is done.
The reply is almost instant:
Thank you. 2 hrs.
Two hours suddenly feels like both not enough time to prepare, and far too much time to tie himself up in knots. He deep cleans the kitchen, makes a shopping list, checks in with Maddie. He doesn't mention that he's going to see Tommy.
Somehow, two hours pass in the blink of an eye and Buck realizes - he has no idea what he's going to say. He's spent the last month and a half trying with everything in him not to call Tommy, and he's just now realizing he has no idea what he would have said if he'd given into the urge. Maybe he just wanted to hear the guy's voice, and now he's about to, and he has no idea what to do with himself.
The knock at the door makes him jolt, and that's it, there's no more time to think. His first thought when he opens the door is that it's not fair that Tommy looks so good. He has no business looking so good. His hair is freshly trimmed, those greys at his temple that admittedly send Buck a little feral sparkling in the low light of the hall, his favorite blue Henley soft and stretched across the bulk of his chest, his eyes - Buck's whole train of thought derails because he looks again and Tommy looks - scared. Sad. Like he's holding back from flinching by the skin of his teeth.
"Hey, Tommy."
"Hi, Evan."
Evan, he notes. Steps back. Waves Tommy inside. Tries not to notice the way Tommy's face crumples a little as he steps over the threshold.
"Never thought I'd be here again," he says.
"Me either," Buck admits. "Well, after the first couple weeks when I - " When I sat around and waited for you to come back and tell me you made a mistake. He bites his tongue. Much as he wants to be real bitchy about this, Tommy looks like he is on the edge, and nothing in Buck wants to make that worse.
"You want a coffee?"
"Uh. Sure," Tommy says, and it gives Buck the opportunity to turn his back, to breathe. He's achingly aware of Tommy behind him, of the gravity of his presence, the sound of his breathing (a little shaky), the slight creak as he takes a seat. Buck still has the stupid almond milk and the stupid syrup Tommy likes in his stupid candy flavored coffee, has been buying the former on reflex and can't bring himself to use the latter and taste Tommy's kisses without the man himself. He makes the coffee, even cuts Tommy a slice of cake, and dumps them both in front of him.
Tommy blinks down at the cake, up at Buck. "You made that?"
"Yeah," Buck says. "Been getting real into baking since - well, since."
"Oh." Tommy chews on his lip, looks away again.
"Every time I wanna call you, I bake," Buck admits, the words falling into the silence between them with more weight than they deserve given how ridiculous they are, really.
Tommy glances up at him. "Yeah?"
Buck swivels, pulls open the door to his fridge which is still groaning under the weight of saran wrapped loaves and cakes and tupperwares full of cookies.
"That's - that's a lot."
Buck shrugs. "Yeah, well."
The silence is painful. Awkward in a way they've never really been with each other. Buck throws himself down onto the stool opposite Tommy, tries not to think about how this is exactly where they were sitting when - when. From the look on his face, the way Tommy can't meet his eyes, he's thinking the exact same thing. This is - it's the worst, Buck thinks miserably.
"So, therapy, huh?" he blurts out.
Tommy nods, takes a deep breath. "After I left that night, I - I drove to the movie theater."
Buck blinks. That is…not what he was expecting. "Uh…"
"Bought a ticket and everything. Realized on my way in that that's - that's not normal. Nothing I did that night was normal. You - you made me so happy, and I blew that up the second it sounded like maybe you wanted something long-term. That - that's not normal. The way I think about - about relationships, about love, about myself. It's not normal."
Buck feels like he's holding his breath.
"So I went home. Drank a couple of beers. Psyched myself up. Booked an appointment for the next day."
"That's…" Buck doesn't know what to say. "That's quick."
"Yeah. I don't - " Tommy looks away. Buck can't see it, but he can tell that he's bouncing his leg anxiously. "I wanna stop being a fucking - a wrecking ball. I wanna stop hurting people, stop hurting myself, but it feels like it's all I do."
Buck can't bite his tongue quick enough. "You make choices, Tommy."
Tommy nods and shrinks in on himself. "I know that. I do. It doesn't feel like it, but I do. I get scared and I make the worse choice every time because it's easier than being brave, and I tell myself it's the only choice but - it's not. I know that. I do know that. I'm - I'm so fucked up, Evan."
His eyes are swimming with tears and Buck knows he's no better. Everything in him is screaming at him to reach out, but he clenches his hands together under the table to stop himself. This is - this is maybe the most real Tommy's ever been with him, maybe the most real he's seen Tommy be with himself, and Buck doesn't want to interrupt it, even as every part of him wants to gather Tommy up to him and soothe him and promise him everything's okay. Everything's so far from okay. He watches Tommy take a few deep breaths, recognises the pattern and the count from his own therapy sessions.
"My - my dad - you know, he's an asshole. But he wasn't always. He and my mom - they were so in love. I mean, stars in their eyes, to the exclusion of everything and everyone else, they adored each other. Even before she died, I didn't - there wasn't space for me in there. And after - I guess I remind him of what he lost. They loved each other, and it hurt me. Abby loved me, and I hurt her. I loved N - Nick, and he h - hurt me. I - "
Tommy clears his throat wetly and looks away while Buck thinks who the fuck is Nick and how do I break his kneecaps?
"You what, Tommy?" he asks instead, and it comes out gently.
"I love you," Tommy says, and Buck pretends he isn't paying attention to the tense, pretends his heart isn't rabbiting inside his chest. "I love you, and I hurt us both and I'm - I'm poison, Evan, I'm nothing but sharp edges but I swear I'm trying not to be and I know it's too late but I'm so - I'm so sorry, I'm so - "
He's fully crying now, trying to hide his face in his hands and Buck can't hold back anymore, closes the space between them and gets his arms around the bulk of Tommy's shoulders where they're shaking.
"Don't," Tommy begs, his whole body tightening, so tense Buck's worried something is going to snap. "Don't - d - don't - I don't deserve - "
"Shh," Buck says, pressing his face into Tommy's hair and stopping himself from making it a kiss at the last second. "I don't care what you think you deserve, just let me hold you, okay? Just let me."
Tommy cries harder, soaking Buck's shirt, and Buck doesn't know how long it goes on for but suddenly Tommy's holding him too, clinging in a way he never has before, in a way that feels desperate and fierce and heartbroken.
"It's okay," Buck promises in spite of himself. He strokes his fingers over the short cropped hairs on the nape of Tommy's neck. "I've got you, it's okay. Just try to breathe, baby, you're gonna make yourself sick."
Baby slips out without any intention on his part, but Tommy doesn't seem to notice, just heaves in a hitching, gulping breath, then another, and another. He shifts in Buck's arms, pulling away and Buck lets him. He doesn't retreat to his own seat though, doesn't feel right to put any distance between them while Tommy presses the heels of his hands into his eyes like he can force the tears back inside.
"I'm sorry," he says, when he's a little calmer. "I've got no right - "
"Stop, okay. Just - stop being so horrible to yourself."
Tommy nods. "Yeah. Working on that. I know - I know it's too late, and I swear I didn't come here with the intention of - of crying all over you and making you feel bad for me. I just - I wanted you to know that I'm sorry, and I know that I fucked up real bad. I know - like I said, I know it's too little, too late, but I want you to know I'm working on - on being better."
Buck chews on the inside of his lip clearly for a second too long because Tommy gives a sharp little nod.
"That's all I wanted to say," he says, pushing back from the table and starting to stand. "I'll get out of your - "
"Sit your ass down," Buck says, a little rougher than he intended. Tommy does as he's told, blinking rapidly and Buck pushes away from the table, paces across the kitchen and back again.
"Evan…"
"Shut up. If you keep making decisions for me, I'm gonna - I'm gonna start throwing loaves at your head."
Tommy makes a noise that's half laugh, half sob, and Buck fights back the tiny grin that's tugging at his mouth.
"You - you really think you're this irredeemable asshole that doesn't deserve to be happy, don't you?"
Tommy shrugs, looks away. "If the shoe fits…"
Buck whirls around, yanks open the fridge, grabs the first loaf he sees. "This is coffee and walnut. It's dense. Last warning, jackass."
Tommy's laugh is more distinct this time. "Evan. Okay. Yes, I think that. But I'm - I'm working on not."
"Okay. Okay. So - so work on it." He puts the loaf down. "Work on it, and take me on a date."
Tommy looks like he's being rebooted without warning. "You can't be serious."
"Why not?"
"I - "
"Tell me why I can't be serious."
"Because! Because I'm - I'm a mess. I hurt you. I left."
"You came back," Buck counters. "Even if it was only to apologize."
"You deserve better."
"I want you."
"I don't - I don't know when I'll be - better than I am."
"You're better today than the day you left. You're here."
"Evan…"
"Yes or no, Tommy. Take me on a date."
"I - "
"Yes or no."
"Yes. Please, yes."
Buck exhales for what feels like the first time in weeks. "Okay. Okay. That's a start."
He puts the loaf back in the fridge, takes Tommy's coffee away to reheat it, and the whole time he can feel Tommy's eyes on him, watching him like he's something precious.

RERUN ━━ Fiyero x fem!reader
Tumblr media
author's note; this took longer than expected, i'm sorry! but here we are <3
prompt; "Admit it you missed me." "I certainly missed kicking your ass, if that's what you mean." for Fiyero x Reader? (maybe they knew eachother as kids?)
summary; fiyero's arrival in shiz university had everyone in a frenzy, but especially a certain lady from winkie country
side notes; i'm using a surname for the reader this time but its not an oc, feel free to imagine your own name! (i just didn't wanna use y/n). never read the books, so if i say anything about the vinkus/ winkie country is purely from google searches and maybe even made up by myself idk 😭
━━ ☄. *. ⋆
The newspaper pretty much hit her in the face.
She'd been walking in the courtyard, intending to head back to her dorm to get ready for her classes after an early morning jog. But the newspaper that somehow flew from a stack on one of the tables quite literally smacked her in the face.
She grabbed it with a huff, about to throw it aside. Of course, until the headline of the latest report from The Shiz Gazette caught her eye.
Prince Fiyero Spotted at Shiz!
She read it over and over again. Looked at the picture they'd printed repeatedly. Then she tossed it onto the floor, quite literally stomping over it as she ran back to her dorm.
When was the last time she saw that stupid, handsome prince? They were both younger then. Their separation was mainly because he could never for the life of him keep himself in one school — there was always something he did that had him transferred to a new one.
She'd thought that now she was in Shiz, maybe they wouldn't meet again. After all, it was quite a prestigious school. Maybe his nonchalant, slacking attitude would have him rejected the moment they saw his name.
She was so wrong.
He was here. Fiyero Tigelaar was here. The Winkie Prince. The boy she grew up with. The boy who stole her butterfly clips for no other reason than to make her run in the rain to catch him. The bane of her existence.
She was sure the universe was conspiring against her. The second she'd changed into her uniform, she left her dorm. Admittedly, it wasn't the typical blues that everyone wore. She was one of the few with a different shade; greys and lighter blues instead. She intended to head straight for her first class— only to find a small crowd gathered outside.
That horse. Oh, she knew the horse. She recognised the bloody horse before she even saw the person.
When someone finally moved their head out of the way, she caught sight of Fiyero Tigelaar himself. He was by the directory board, figuring out the layout of the place. Galinda was there too, no doubt trying to offer some touring services. He turned his head, about to respond to the blonde girl — when his gaze drifted over the girl's shoulder and found a familiar face.
A smile immediately broke on his ridiculously handsome face, his hand raised for a wave. It was as if everyone's attention immediately snapped to her.
She sighed inwardly, her eyes narrowed. The slightest nod was all the acknowledgement she gave him before she turned and trudged off elsewhere, avoiding him at all costs.
Tumblr media
She'd heard of his little escapade to the Ozdust Ballroom, bringing quite the group of students with him for a night out in town. Already he was rubbing off on everyone, influencing them into his bad habits.
Fiyero had been in Shiz for a week now, and she'd successfully avoided him. But of course her peace and quiet couldn't last forever. In the back shelves of the library, as she skimmed through the book bindings to find a history book — she was loudly interrupted.
“Lady Yarrow.”
She nearly dropped a book with a gasp, startled by the sudden intrusion. Then she was quick to hush the person, spinning on her heels to see Fiyero's smug expression.
“This is a library,” she pointed out.
“Really? It was introduced to me as the ‘bookplace’,” he hummed, looking around as if it was a new discovery.
She rolled her eyes, inhaling deeply to prevent herself from yelling at him like she used to back when they were in Winkie Country.
“Library,” she repeated. “And you're meant to be quiet.”
Fiyero grinned, knowing she was getting ticked off already.
“And is this ever-present tension a new development? Or have I forgotten how easy you are to rile up?” he teased.
The young girl he knew was always sensitive, took everything to heart. They weren't necessarily best of friends but they weren't enemies either — or so he believed.
“Why are you here?” she deflected with ease as she turned back to searching for her book.
“I wanted to read.”
“Ha!”
“Shh, its a library,” he exclaimed in a mock whisper, repeating her earlier words as she shot him an exasperated glare.
“Why are you in Shiz?” she asked instead, moving on from the topic.
“Transferred from Royal Winkie.”
“Kicked out, I believe is the right term.”
“Oh so you have been keeping up with me?” he exclaimed, a bit of a giddy grin on his face as tailed her through the shelves.
When she didn't respond, he just skipped his way until he was in front of her. He walked backwards as she moved forward, still looking through the titles.
“I haven't. But you know our parents,” she grumbled.
“Admit it, princess, you missed me,” he teased, poking at her shoulder.
She swatted his hand away, looking up at him with narrowed eyes. He was still as insufferable as ever.
“I certainly missed kicking your ass, if that's what you mean.”
Fiyero chuckled at that, but he persisted anyway. He just kept shadowing her through the library, pestering her with random teases or jokes even until she was leaving. Even then he followed her.
She just couldn't seem to shake him even if she tried.
“Princess,” he drawled, knowing full well how much she hated when he called her that.
He couldn't help it though — getting on her nerves was his hobby. Not to mention, he hasn't seen her in years.
She ignored him though, continuing to walk through the halls and towards the garden instead. Fiyero knew she was stubborn, but so was he.
“Ignoring me won't make me go away,” he pointed out.
“Throwing a log at you might.”
His laugh was awfully gleeful for someone who just got threatened. When she settled at one of the tables in the garden, she noticed he wasn't directly with her anymore.
Just as she thought she was free of his torment, there was a daffodil suddenly in front of her face. She looked at the hand holding the yellow flower, following it up to see his cheeky and smug face. In a smooth motion, he slid the flower in her hair as an extra accessory.
"You know, I think I'll enjoy wearing you down," he said, before giving her his signature smile and walking away.
Fiyero Tigelaar made it his life mission to bother her at all times from that day onward — letting history repeat itself, as always.

Lean On Me (Part 4/7)
Pairing: Dr Michael 'Robby" Robinavitch x younger! Langdon's little sister! reader
Things heat up over breakfast but it takes a turn for the worst during your shift.
Warnings: casual drinking, mentions of work in a strip club, general lack of clothing in the workplace slow burn
(I know nothing about working in a strip club, so this is all based off media representations, sorry for any mistakes)
Part three / part five
taglist: @dayswithoutcoffee, @hagarsays, @4ishere, @omgbrianab
Tumblr media
“I have two days off.” Michael announced as you both settled into your booth, the waitress already there filling your mugs with coffee. She didn’t even need to ask for your orders, you and Michael had been coming here every day for over two weeks now, and every day it was two cups of coffee and a large stack of pancakes to share.
You didn’t even really love pancakes, not enough to eat them every day but somehow it had become you and Michaels thing. Two coffees, six pancakes and two forks. With the last bite shared between you both.
It was sweet, domestic, and really fucking weird, if you admitted it to yourself.
Somehow in such a short amount of time, Michael had become your closest friend and confidant.
“I’m jealous, what is on the agenda?”
“Sleep, grocery shop and clean my place. I don’t remember the last time I gave it more than a quick hoover.”
“Oh now I really am jealous!”
Michael laughed and dug into the pancakes, a peaceful silence falling between you both as you sipped your overly sweetened coffee. Your crush on the doctor hadn’t calmed down as the days went on and you got to know him better. Instead it was getting worse with every passing moment between the two of you.
Some days you can’t stop yourself staring into his big brown eyes, with their crinkled crows feets and soft eyelashes. His hair, receding with age, but full and salted with greys at the temple that he didn’t hide with dye or a cut, made him just look more distinguished. But the way when flustered he ran his long fingers through his hair, it was enough to make you squeeze your thighs together each time, and for you to hold yourself back from running your own fingers through the hair.
Not to mention the spark you get with every accidental touch, from a slight tap on your lower back as you enter the diner, fingers grazing together as he passes you a fork or the sugar bowl. Everytime it feels like he hesitates, holding on for just a millisecond longer than he should.
Or maybe you're emotionally wrung out and it's been a while since anyone has shown you even a little bit of affection and you don’t know how to deal with kindness.
“I also have a bachelor party tonight.”
“You do not sound that excited.”
“It's for a colleague, Dr Shen, and I’m not really sure what has been planned and the planner of the event scares me a little.”
You laugh and can’t help but love as a little tinge of pink colours his cheeks, Michael Robinavitch blushing is going to be a core memory.
“Who's planning it?”
“Jack.”
“Isn’t he like your best friend or something?”
“Which is why I know to be scared, it could either be whiskeys and steak at a fancy dinner or strippers at a seedy club and no food in sight.”
A seedy club your voice gets stuck in your throat and you can’t hear anything else he’s saying. There are over fifty strip clubs in Pittsburgh city centre and they range from fancy to seedy with yours falling somewhere just above the middle. There was no way in all of Pittsburgh strip clubs he would end up at yours.
You were not that unlucky.
“What one are you hoping for?”
“Whiskey, steaks and in bed by eleven?” he said hopefully, “because I think I'm too old for strip clubs.”
You laugh and pull the pancakes away from him and grab a mouthful, smiling as the syrup coats your lips. You may or may not have taken a little longer to lick the sweet sugar from your bottom lip.
“You’re not that old,” you croon a little, your voice dropping an octave, and you scream at yourself WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Michael stared at you through hooded lids, suddenly finding the table incredibly fascinating.
“I’m old enough to be your father.” he practically whispered.
“But you’re not.” you say, the air suddenly thick between you both, “And-” you swallow trying to find the right words, “Maybe I need someone more mature, wise-”
“Sweetheart-” he purrs, interrupting your nervous and desperate ranting. How did a conversation about whiskey and steaks get this in two sentences, you can’t keep a grin off your lips and your coffee and pancakes long forgotten as you slide your hands innocently across the worn vinyl table.
“Doctor Robinavitch.” You drag out each syllable, and you watch as he tries to catch himself, his own fingers now edging towards yours. Fingertips touching, slowly and carefully.
“Fuck-” You whisper as he leans further in. You can’t breathe and you can’t speak as you both now sat at the edge of your respective seats, hands clasped over the table and then suddenly you felt it, his foot breaching under the table and just touching yours.
It's so PC, so high school, and yet the touch was enough to almost send you over the line.
“More coffee?” The old sour faced waitress asked, breaking the tension.
You both jump in your seats, hands now pulled back in laps, feet securely under your own chairs.
“No thank you.” you both mutter, unable to look at her.
You both quickly make excuses to leave, he mumbles something about grocery shopping and you respond saying you had to go home and walk Dog.
Normally your breakfasts end with a hug and a reminder to see the other person the next day, but after whatever had just happened inside that diner you couldn’t bring yourself to do anything but give an awkward wave and rush towards the bus stop.
You could still feel the touch of him on your hands as you tried to rub the feeling away but it lingered long after the bus lurched away from the stop.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can’t get Michael Robinavitch out of your head as the night passes and you are stuck working the floor.
Everytime you get a moment to yourself, your mind wanders to his touch, the way his foot grazed yours under the table, the purr in his voice as he says ‘Sweetheart’. It pulls you in, distracting you as you handle another evening being ogled and objectified.
Your heels stuck to the vinyl, and someone had turned the heating up to an uncomfortable level causing your body glitter to run slightly as you rushed from table to table.
It was a Wednesday night and back in the day that had meant a slow and easy night but your creep of a boss had decided that Wednesday nights was now ‘Wings Night’, where as long as you kept buying drinks, and dances, you got a free bucket of wings.
So you walked, swaying slightly to the music, from one end of the club to another, off loading beers, whiskeys and internalising every cringe as slightly greasy fingers tipped you.
“Another one here sweetheart.” bellowed a patron, whose eyes never lifted higher than your chest, his fingers slick with the sauce of a chicken wing sliding instead of snapping for your attention.
You almost roll your eyes at the nickname, from Michaels lips it could bring you to your knees, from this pathetic man it took everything not to knee him in his unmentionables.
You knew that it was part of the job, along with the tiny pleated skirt and black bra that covered nothing but your nipples, but after over ten years of the same job you did start to think that maybe you had been someone awful in a past life.
You gather the tables empty glasses and confirm they wish for another round of the same.
More lewd comments are thrown your way and you smile in return, big and broad like you had learnt when you started.
“Another round for table seven please Joe!” you call to the bartender, Joe was an older guy who was a bartender slash bouncer and the loveliest man you had ever known. In his late fifties he had seen and done it all, and was always more than happy to dole out advice or protect the girls on and off the stage.
“You doing okay?”
“Always!”
“Liar!” you both laugh and turn as another group of men wander into the dark club. You shrug your shoulders back and plaster a smile on your face and take a step.
Then stop.
Amongst the seven or so men stood one slightly taller than the rest, with his hands in his pocket and stunning brown eyes that seemed to glow against the glistering stage lights.
Michael.
In your club.
Your tray clangs to the floor as you lose all decorum, rushing behind the bar and ducking.
You can’t breathe.
What is he doing here?
“You doing okay?” Joe asked, not moving from his spot, tea towel in hand as he wiped a glass.
“Please tell me that group didn’t just walk into my section?” You prayed, there were only three of you on the floor tonight. Half the girls who had been rostered on called in sick, most likely because they didn’t want to spend half of the next morning washing wing sauce off their uniform.
“Want me to lie?”
“Fuck!” you hiss and close your eyes.
You seriously must have been a truly horrible person in your former life.
“Is there a problem?” Suddenly Joe was before you, squatting down as his knees creaked.
You laugh dryly and take ten deep breaths, each one causing Joe to frown further.
“The tall one is my brother's boss.”
“That’s awkward but-”
“Who I had the most sexually charged breakfast with this morning, and if the waitress hadn’t come over, I probably would have mounted him on top of our pancakes.”
Joe's frown disappeared and his brows shot up, “Well that's a pickle but-”
“He also thinks I work at an office supply store.”
“This is not an office supply store.”
“Oh really?” you cringe up at him but he's just smiling.
“Everyone deals with this at one point or another. At least he’s just a crush and not your husband.”
He holds up his hand and forces you to your feet. There is no good option here, you could either stay behind the bar for a moment longer, and have your creep boss find you and berate you for wasting time in front of every patron in the club, or you go out there with your head held high and take their drinks orders.
Michael looked awkward at the glance you had seen so maybe he will be too busy looking at the floor or making excuses to leave to notice you.
Wishful thinking or delusional, you can't decide which as you straighten your skirt, holster up your bra and give Joe a kiss on the cheek.
You got this you mutter as you place table sevens drinks on your tray.
You let Michael and his group settle at a table close to the stage, most of them immediately distracted by Cherry dancing to an 80s classic, her lycra outfit reminiscent of a time most of the table would have been in high school or college.
You cringe a little, it's a subtle reminder of the age gap you had been trying to ignore. You hadn’t even been born until the 90s, your parents hadn’t even known each other in the 80s!
Distracted you place drinks in front of the wrong men, each one swapping and changing, laughing at you as you just smile through the fumble.
“Sorry guys!” You say as more notes are slipped under the waistband of your skirt.
You take just a moment to remove the notes, placing them in the pouch you kept inside your bra, nestled in the flimsy fabric was almost four hundred dollars of slightly sticky notes.
Your club was good enough that it was discouraged to tip in ones or twos, instead the minimum tip is ‘suggested’ to be tens or higher and with the slightly nicer atmosphere and ‘classy’ dancing, this meant it was mostly adhered to.
Someone at Michaels table waves you down, he has a kind face, older like Michael with salt and pepper curls cut short. Military, you clock almost immediately. They are easy to recognise in places like this, you can’t put into words why but they are.
It’s Jack Abbot you guess, knowing him only from your brother and Michaels stories.
It takes only ten steps to get from table seven to their table, you lean over a spare chair at their table, smiling as the men, predictably, look south before looking at your face. You don't look at Michael purposely smiling only at Dr Abbot and the man that must be the Bachelor.
He looked wrecked, his shirt half open and his eyes just a little glazed over.
“I think some water for you.” you purr, some people have a retail voice or their corporate voice, you had what could only be described as a ‘slutty’ voice.
The bachelor nodded, unable to look at anything in particular. Everyone else at the table was doing okay, a few reddened cheeks but everyone was pretty much sober.
“I’ll bring over some wings, and maybe chips, let's put something in your stomach.” You say before turning to Jack, “And for the table?”
Jack smiles, looking you in your eyes, which is a rarity in your line of work, “What whiskeys do you have?”
You laugh, gently swatting him on the shoulder, “You’re in a strip club honey, we got a bottle with the word Whiskey on it and that's about it.”
“Fancy stuff?”
“It will do the job.” Both of you laugh and you lift your head up.
Suddenly your stomach is in your throat. Brown eyes meet yours and they are alight with something you can’t quite describe.
Michael is staring at you, his hands white knuckling the table as he ignores any and all attempts of his friends trying to talk to him. The air that had been sickly warm was now freezing, you look away quickly, unable to catch his eye.
“I’ll be right back with your wings and whiskey!” you chirp, your work voice long gone as you try to shrink away.
Of course he would look up at you, you had to be an idiot to think he wouldn’t look up when a waitress spoke with him, no matter the location.
You can’t get away fast enough as your heels stick to the floor.
You could feel his eyes on you as you walked away, burning a hole into your back.
“I think Dr Bossman wants to eat you.” Joe says as he gathers the glasses and Whiskey, “He hasn’t blinked since you walked up.”
You throw a cautionary look behind you, everyone at the table was chatting amongst themselves, except for Michael who was just staring straight at you.
You try to give him an encouraging smile but it falters as he stands up, his chair creaking and his friends looking at him with confusion.
You rush to tell Joe the table's order, your voice getting lost as you continue to look back at Michael whose face has now gone a particular shade of red.
It was Jack who noticed the looks between the two of you. He looks from you back to Michael and then back to you, like he was watching a game of tennis before he is laughing to himself.
It takes Michael no time to move around his table and to get to you. Before you can even greet him with any kind of sound other than a squeak, his hand is tight around your forearm and he's pulling you towards the door marked ‘Staff- No Entry’.

"i'm not jealous!" | bsf!beomgyu
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✩ genre: lots of fluff, f2l, mutual pining, musician gyu
✩ warnings: swear words, jealousy
Tumblr media
Beomgyu had always loved you. It was quite obvious to everyone that saw the two of you, but somehow your eyes were always clouded to his true feelings. At first he became friends with you to see if he stood any chance- kind of shitty of him to be honest and he knew that- but now, your friendship bloomed into something deeper, a bond that people could only wish they had.
Whenever someone came up to you and Beomgyu, asking if you made it official since the last time they saw you, you would always wave your arms around and shake your head quickly to ward off the idea that you were more than friends. Beomgyu always wanted to say yes; after all, if people saw you two as a couple, then why couldn't you be? He guessed the biggest thing in the way was that you saw him as a best friend only, maybe even as a brother, and the thought hurt him more than anything.
Now you were sitting besides Beomgyu in his studio, as he listened over and over to the new track he made. Both him and Yeonjun were playing with different instruments, the versatile range going from a piccolo to an electric drum kit. They had been at this for hours and you were feeling left out as the friend date went from hanging out to messing around the studio. You could probably contribute more ideas, but sleep was already heavy on your eyelids. You looked blearily at them, clearing your throat in annoyance when their laughs broke the sound barrier yet again that night.
"Guys, I think I might head home. I'm a little tired, and I don't think I'm really necessary for this?" The last sentence might've sounded a little passive aggressive, but you knew they wouldn't take it that way. It was the truth after all: you were too tired and couldn't help much.
You failed to catch the disappointment on Beomgyu's falling face as he turned around to look at you.
"But Y/NNNN," he whined, "we'll be done soon! It'll just take 5 minutes. Plus, I-uh we need you." I need you, he thought silently, almost blurting the wrong words out. The frown on his face was big as he accentuated it to gain pity points. You rolled your eyes, smiling at both his playfulness and how badly he wanted you there.
Yeonjun sat up from his chair and glanced at you as he shuffled his weight to the right side.
"Sorry, Y/N. We got a good idea for a song and can't walk you out now" he paused for a second to look at the glistening watch on his wrist, "but if you want, I could grab you some coffee? That'll keep you up for longer probably."
Yeonjun's kindness and the thought of coffee made you smile. Coffee sounded glorious at that very moment and Yeonjun was an angel for coming up with that idea so quickly. If not, you would definitely fall asleep on the firm and uncomfortable couch you were sitting on.
"Okay, thanks! Just grab my usual, okay?"
He smiled at you, a glint of mischief in his eyes, "of course!" Beomgyu watched the two of you quietly, his eyes glancing between your face and Yeonjun's for a hint of romance or perhaps hopefully that nothing was there at all. Nothing was there, right? He felt sick to his stomach as he heard you humming happily from the grey couch.
The room, now enveloped in thickened silence, surprised you. At this time, Beomgyu would be yapping your ear off about some of the instruments he found in the studio. Now that he was silent, the atmosphere felt incredibly awkward. You stopped humming and looked up to see Beomgyu with a clenched jaw looking down at the floor.
"Gyu," you whispered, deciding to take Yeonjun's seat in lieu of the boy who was grabbing your coffee, "what's wrong? You're never this silent." You smoothed out your bottoms, hoping you'd feel more comfortable. It just didn't feel right that Beomgyu wasn't initiating the conversation.
His face was still unreadable as he looked at the floor, counting the tiles, "he knows your usual? I thought I only knew your usual." His tone of his voice was rough and ragged, a feeling that you couldn't put your finger on. You were more confused than anything.
"It's just coffee, Gyu?" you questioned, tone becoming a bit defensive, "you know lots of things about me that he doesn't know about, if you're worried." In your opinion, it was a silly thing to worry about. Unfortunately for your heart, Beomgyu was your best friend. Since he only saw you platonically, the two of you were great friends. Yeonjun was just a close friend and besides, you and Beomgyu were closer. Why he was upset about this- it didn't make sense.
He gasped exasperatedly, now looking at you. You could see fire behind his eyes as he pursed his lips, "But coffee is a big deal! You don't understand, Y/N."
"... I clearly don't. Why is it a big deal?" You questioned again, but he didn't answer. Well, he didn't want to answer.
You tried again, prodding into him, but he was as closed off as ever. "What is this about?"
Then an idea flew into your head. No way... it couldn't be, but... it was right there all along. You started to laugh to yourself to which Beomgyu cocked his head at. You probably looked insane.
"Don't tell me..." you giggled, feeling giddy, "are you jealous, Gyu?" An inkling of hope ignited in your heart, hoping, praying that maybe he saw you in a different light now.
Beomgyu became defensive, furrowing his eyebrows and pouting. "I'm not jealous!" His voice turned quiet this time, as if he was whispering to the side. "Why would I be jealous?"
You grinned, motioning him to continue his thought process. "I don't know! You tell me!"
Beomgyu sighed, no longer able to fight the battle in his head of whether he should tell you or not. His deep brown eyes, now desperate and searching for yours, told you everything that you needed to know, alongside his faltering, weak voice.
"Because I only want you. Only you. Why can't you see that? I've always wanted you, but you never saw it."
You smiled, feeling adrenaline and excitement rush to your heart. You gently cupped Beomgyu's face in an attempt to bring him closer, his eyes widening as he tried to comprehend what was happening...
That night Beomgyu ended up with way too many kisses that made him super smitten. Yeonjun was incredibly confused when he came back to the studio, seeing Beomgyu in a heap of smiles and imaginary hearts floating beside him, alongside you who kept giggling every couple of seconds seeing your now boyfriend in such weak behavior.
Yes, Beomgyu has always wanted you. But now, he's got you and there was no need for him to be jealous anymore, knowing that you loved him too.

Tumblr media
It’s the next morning, and even though the air still feels a little heavy, Margaret’s energy is doing a lot to lift the mood. She’s moving around the kitchen like she always does, humming softly, acting like everything’s okay. And somehow, just that—her being her—makes things feel a little less tense.
She’s always the one smoothing things over when Rafe and I butt heads. It’s like she can’t help but try to keep the peace, even when it’s not her mess to clean up. I feel guilty watching her do it, like she’s carrying the weight of keeping us all okay when she shouldn’t have to.
I wake up earlier than usual, but Rafe’s already in the kitchen, sitting there with a cup of coffee like it’s the most natural thing in the world. Like he’s always belonged there. Like nothing ever happened.
There’s something about the way he’s so at ease that gets under my skin—not angry, just... unsettled. He’s acting like this is just another morning, like we’re just a family, like we didn’t fall apart a hundred times before this.
Rafe looks up from his coffee as I walk in, his eyes tracking me like he’s trying to read something in my face. I know I look like hell—barely slept, head still full of things I wish I’d said.
He nods, that slight smirk playing on his lips, like none of it matters. Like last night didn’t happen.
“Morning,” he says, like it’s just any other day.
The casual tone makes something tighten in my chest. He’s too comfortable, too at ease—like he can just pick up where we left off without acknowledging the wreckage between us. And somehow, that bothers me more than if he’d just come out swinging.
“Are you leaving today, right?” I ask, trying to sound casual, but it comes out softer than I meant—like the answer might matter more than I want to admit.
Rafe pauses, takes a slow sip of his coffee. His face doesn’t give much away.
“Yeah,” he says after a beat. “Figured I’d head out later today.”
Rafe stands, setting his mug down with a quiet clink. He walks over slowly, like he’s not sure if he’s allowed to do what he’s about to do. Then, without saying anything, he rests his hand gently on my bump.
He doesn’t speak right away—just stays there, still and quiet, like he’s trying to memorize the feeling. Like he knows this moment might not come again, and he’s trying to hold onto it with everything he has.
“When’s your next doctor’s appointment?” he asks finally, his voice low.
I feel the weight of his hand on my bump, and for a moment, I’m frozen—caught between wanting to pull away and needing to hold on to whatever this is. His touch is so gentle, like he's afraid of breaking something.
I glance up at him, and for a split second, his eyes meet mine—there’s something there, something I can’t quite name. It’s not anger, not regret, just… a quiet kind of knowing.
“Next week,” I answer, my voice barely above a whisper. I don’t want to say more, don’t want to explain, because I know if I do, this moment might break, and I don’t know if I’m ready for that.
He nods, his hand lingering for just a second longer before he pulls it away. The air feels heavier, like something unspoken is hanging between us, but neither of us knows how to reach for it.
“Good,” he says quietly, but there’s no relief in his voice—just that same weight that’s been between us for too long.
The door creaks open, and Margaret steps in, her face lighting up when she sees us. Her smile is bright, almost like she’s trying to will the tension out of the room. “Good morning!” she says cheerfully, her voice filled with that contagious energy of hers.
But then, as she notices the quiet between Rafe and me, something shifts. Her eyes flicker to him, and for a second, there’s that small, unmistakable sadness in her gaze—like she’s just realized what we’ve all been trying to avoid.
She hesitates for a moment, then looks back at me, offering a forced but warm smile. “Dad, you’re leaving today, aren’t you?”
Rafe doesn’t say anything, just gives her a small nod, and that’s enough to make the smile slip from her face, just a little. She doesn’t say anything more, but I can see it—the way her shoulders sag slightly, the way she holds herself back from asking the questions she’s probably too afraid to voice.
The rest of the morning drags on, each minute stretching out longer than the last. Margaret seems determined to fill the time, to hold onto every second she has left with Rafe. They play cards at the kitchen table, and I can hear her giggling as she teaches him a dance she learned from TikTok. Rafe actually laughs—loud and genuine, like the world outside this moment doesn’t exist.
I stay in the kitchen, pretending to be busy, but really, I’m just watching them. Watching how easily they slip into this rhythm, like nothing’s changed, like Rafe hasn’t been gone for so long, like everything’s still okay.
But then a thought creeps into my mind, uninvited and heavy: Will he show up for this one? Will he hold the baby?
It’s a question I don’t want to ask, but it’s there, sitting in the back of my mind, because I can’t shake the feeling that he might walk away again—just when things start to matter the most.
Margaret insisted on getting ice cream at the beach, her face lighting up with excitement like nothing was different. She’s ahead of us now, lost in her own world as she walks down the boardwalk.
Rafe and I trail behind, side by side but not really together. He keeps his hands in his pockets, glancing at me every so often, but neither of us says a word. The silence stretches between us, and I can’t help but wonder if he’s going to walk away again once this is all over.
“She’s growing up so fast, isn’t she?” Rafe says, his voice quieter than usual.
“Yeah, she is,” I reply, my words simple, but they carry more weight than they should.
Rafe nods, his gaze following Margaret as she walks ahead, her energy still bright, her innocence still untouched. There’s a softness in his expression as he watches her, something almost wistful, like he’s realizing how much time has passed while he’s been away.
For a moment, it feels like the world slows down, and the distance between us feels a little smaller—until the silence falls again, heavier than before.
I shift the conversation, needing to know—needing something real before he leaves.
“Um... I was wondering if you’d be able to stay for a while. When the baby’s born.”
Rafe doesn’t answer right away. He looks ahead, jaw tight, like he’s turning the question over carefully in his mind. I can see the weight of it in his silence—the idea of staying, of showing up this time.
His face stays unreadable, but when he finally speaks, there’s a hesitation in his voice that says more than the words do.
“I don’t know. I’m not sure if I can commit to that right now.”
“Rafe, please,” I say, the words catching in my throat. “At least be there. You’ve missed every doctor’s appointment so far... the least you could do is be there when the baby comes.”
My voice shakes, not out of anger—but something closer to exhaustion. To hope, maybe. I’m not asking for everything. Just that.
Rafe’s jaw tightens, and when he speaks, there’s an edge to his voice.
“Don’t start with that. I don’t have time to make every single doctor’s appointment. I have a life too, you know.”
“Yes, I know, but—”
He cuts me off, sharper this time.
“But what? You think I don’t care about this baby? That I don’t want to be there for you?”
“I didn’t say that, Rafe,” I reply quietly, but the hurt is already there—pressed between the lines of everything we didn’t say.
Rafe’s frustration boils over, his voice rising as he snaps back, more defensive now.
“But that’s what you’re implying, isn’t it? That I don’t care—just because I can’t be at every damn appointment?”
I flinch at the intensity in his voice. Whatever fragile calm we had is gone now, replaced by the same wall he always throws up when things get too real.
He looks away, jaw clenched, then calls out, louder than he needs to, “Margaret! We’re heading back!”
His tone makes it clear—this conversation is over. Whether I got the answer I needed or not doesn’t seem to matter anymore.
The silence in the car is thick, stretching between us like miles. Margaret’s soft snores drift from the back seat, the only sound breaking the tension.
I stare out the window, the landscape blurring past, but all I can feel is the weight pressing down on me—loneliness wrapping itself around my shoulders like a heavy blanket.
I want to say something, anything, but the thought of opening up to Rafe feels pointless. He’d probably just call me dramatic, brush it off like he always does. So I stay quiet, holding it all in, because it feels safer than being dismissed.
We finally make it back to the house. Margaret heads upstairs to her room without a word, worn out from the day.
Rafe and I step into the bedroom, the air thick with tension. He goes straight to his bag, focused, methodical—folding, zipping, organizing like it’s the only thing he has control over.
I move around him, pretending to tidy up, but really just trying to fill the silence. We don’t speak. There’s too much to say and no safe way to say it, so we let the silence speak for us—loud and aching.
I stand near the dresser, pretending to rearrange things that don’t need rearranging. My voice comes out softer than I expect.
“You’ll call her, right? Not just for birthdays?”
Rafe pauses, his hands stilling over the half-zipped bag. He doesn’t look at me right away, just stares down like he’s weighing what to say.
“Yeah,” he says after a moment. “Of course I will.”
But something in the way he says it—too quick, too automatic—makes my chest tighten. I nod anyway, pretending to believe him, because it’s easier than pushing for more.
I nod, but it doesn’t feel like a promise—just words he thinks I want to hear.
Trying to soften the silence, I shift the weight in the room.
“I was thinking maybe… next time you visit, we could all go to Orlando or something. Take Margaret to Disney. You know, like a family trip.”
I try to keep my tone light, casual, but there’s hope tucked beneath it—thin and fragile. I don’t look at him right away. I don’t want to see his face if he’s already thinking of all the reasons it won’t happen.
Rafe lets out a short breath, his tone already edged with irritation.
“You want me to spend money on a whole trip to Disney? Do you even know how expensive that is?”
I look down, jaw tightening, the sting immediate. I wasn’t asking for luxury—just a moment. A memory. Something that might hold us together a little longer.
“I just thought it might be nice,” I say quietly, trying to keep the hurt out of my voice. “For Margaret.”
He doesn’t respond right away, and in the silence, it’s clear—I asked for too much again.
Rafe sighs, dragging a hand through his hair, his voice still edged with irritation.
“Just don’t suggest things you know we can’t afford.”
I nod slowly, swallowing the lump rising in my throat. Of course. I should’ve known better than to hope out loud.
“It wasn’t about the money,” I murmur, mostly to myself. “It was about doing something... together.”
But he’s already turned back to his bag, and I’m left standing there, feeling foolish for wanting more than he’s willing to give.
The moment is here, and it feels like time has slowed down. Margaret and I stand at the front door, silent, watching as Rafe hovers awkwardly in the doorway. His bags are packed, the car’s engine idling outside.
There’s something heavy in the air, something unspoken, and it hangs between us like a wall neither of us knows how to break.
Rafe shifts his weight, glancing between Margaret and me, but neither of us knows what to say. We all feel the same thing—this is it. This is the last time we’ll see him for who knows how long. And somehow, even though it’s been this way before, it feels different now.
Margaret’s the first to speak, her voice small, almost fragile. “Take care, Dad.”
Rfe looks down at Margaret, his expression both soft and pained. He responds to her goodbye with a gentle smile.
“I’ll see you later, alright little one?”
I can’t bring myself to say anything. The words feel stuck, tangled up in all the things I never got to ask. Instead, I just stand there, watching as he pulls away and walks out the door.
Rafe steps out, the door clicking shut behind him, and the silence that follows feels even heavier. I turn to Margaret, my heart aching as I take in the sadness etched across her face. It’s there in the way her shoulders slump, the quiet tremble of her lip, and the way her eyes shine with unshed tears—her brave face faltering under the weight of everything she doesn’t know how to say.
“What’s wrong, baby?” I ask softly, my voice breaking through the quiet.
She blinks, as if trying to push the tears back, but they fall anyway, one by one, and I know she’s holding onto the kind of hurt only a child feels when someone they love walks away.
“I... I don’t want him to go, Mom,” she whispers, her voice small and fragile.
“Well, he has to go, but he’ll be back before you know it,” I say, trying to sound more reassuring than I feel.
Margaret’s response is quick, her voice sharp with both annoyance and sadness.
“What, in another four months?”
I feel a pang in my chest at the bitterness in her tone.
“He has to work, sweetheart. Who else is gonna keep the lights on?” I answer, my words sounding more defensive than I intend.
She nods slowly, understanding the practicalities of his work, but her expression says everything—the disappointment is too heavy for her to just brush aside. She turns away slightly, trying to hide the way her shoulders slump.
“I know,” she mutters, but I can see the sadness still lingering in her eyes.
Margaret doesn’t say anything else. She just nods, her shoulders stiff as she turns away. Without another word, she heads for the stairs, her steps quiet but heavy, like she’s carrying something too big for her small frame.
I watch her go, the sound of her footsteps fading as she disappears upstairs. A lump forms in my throat, but I don’t chase after her. Not now. I know she needs space to process this, to make sense of what we both already feel.
The house feels emptier, quieter, and I’m left standing there, with the weight of everything left unsaid.

"You're all I need, love,"-Five Hargreeves
requested: anonymous
words: 866
warnings: uhhh idk really, maybe a bit of angst, no Five and Lila, they do get stuck together, but nothing happens between them
summary: Five has been stuck for 7 years without you, and now he's finally home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7 years.
7 long years.
But to her it's only been an hour. Five had gone off on one of his adventures to try and figure out how to solve our apocalypse problem. Even though it was barely an hour for her, Five had been on the worst trip from hell for a whole 7 years.
He would constantly think of how having her there with him would've made everything better, but no matter what he tried he could never get to her. Every train line seemed to take him farther and farther away.
To him being away from her was the punishment no apocalypse could ever make him feel. Being without her, traveling from timeline to timeline, felt like walking through each layer of hell alone, with only the distant thoughts of the person you once loved to keep you company.
Of course he has Lila there with him, but even she was starting to hate his mopey attitude, and how every other sentence was how much he missed her. She herself missed Diego and her own kids, which made her understand how Five felt. They both had someone who truly understood them, and now here they were stuck and trapped with the hope of getting back to them, withering away like a flower stuck in eternal winter.
But, when Five found the notebook with the instructions on how to get back it felt like maybe believing in a higher power wasn't so horrible, and that some god or deity wanted him to get back to her. He would trade his whole life just to be able to find a way back to her, and here it was in his hands. The messy writing giving the perfect instructions on every step needed to make his way back.
When he and Lila found themselves back at the front door of her house it felt unreal. It felt like at any moment someone would pull the rug out from under their feet, and tell them it was an elaborate mirage. But it was all real.
Every second felt like a moment wasted, so they opened the door where Lila's kids ran to her, full of joy of seeing her again. To them it had only been an hour. Maybe you wouldn't think he was the same? Maybe you wouldn't notice anything and act like it was just his normal self?
All of these thoughts went through Five's head, thinking of every possible way the both of them would react when seeing each other. When she finally appeared she immediately moved towards him, happy to see him again. She saw how he looked sadder, but somehow happier at the same time. Their hug lasted for longer than it seemed time could handle.
"I missed you. I missed you so much," He whispered into her hair, softly stroking it while pressing her so far into his chest that their heartbeats were felt by the other.
She smiled, amused by his loving words, "You've only been gone an hour, was it really that bad?" she asked, concerned about him, willing to devote every inch of herself to make him feel better.
Five moved to press their foreheads together, "Yeah, it was that bad," he told her, his voice barely above a whisper, as he downplayed his 7 years he couldn't have dreamed of in his worst nightmares.
"I'm sorry then. But, now I'm here," she told him, knowing that that was usually enough to make him relieved. He just held her tight, breathing in her scent, as if it was a quintessential part of his life he hadn't had in an eternity of suffering.
He would move to peck her lips softly, or to place a kiss somewhere on her face. To her it was just him relishing in her presence and showing his love to her. But to him it was his way of making sure she was really there. That she was really in his arms, that he could really kiss her, that he could finally tell the face that haunted his dreams with the presence he thought he would never be in again, how much he loved her.
All those years apart from her made him realize how much he would give for her love. Maybe she was a goddess in disguise, since it seemed almost impossible to make a person go crazy just from not being with them. No matter what, she was his savior. She was the one keeping him going all those years, and the only reason he kept looking for an escape to the point where he would've sold his soul for a way back to her.
Being there in her arms gave him a feeling he wanted to bottle up and savor till his death. "You're all I need, love," he told her, his words meaning more than he had ever meant anything before. She was all he needed to live a perfect life.
And finally after all these years he was back with her. This time not even the heavens or hell, or anything in between could separate him from the person he would run to if the world was ending.

1.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Nico swore as he kicked the front door of his apartment. Today wasn't his day, first the devils lost their game in a shootout, a game that they should have won. Having to sit through mindless, annoying media after, putting nico in an even more shitty mood. Then he got stuck in traffic on his way back home, his phone died halfway home, and just as he got out of his car it started pouring causing him to get completely soaked. Just to top it all off, if his day couldn't get any worse, he somehow left his keys inside his apartment. Which led to the three kicks Nico gave to his door before dropping his head against the cold wood.
Nico, too busy trying to wrack his brain on how to get into his apartment, didn't hear the elevator door open, as someone began to walk down the hallway.
“Nico, are you alright?” a sweet voice says from behind him.
turning his head slowly to see yn, his attractive, sweet as honey neighbor standing next to him in the hallway.
“Uh hi” he rasps put
“Hi” she replies sweetly, “are you okay?” she asks again
“Um, not really. I haven't had the best day, and I happen to lock my keys in my apartment.”
“Oh no, im sorry” she says, a genuine look of empathy running along her face
“Its okay, i'm just going to stand here until it magically opens” nico chuckles out sadly to her
“If you'd like you could come post up in my place until you can get back to yours? I don't want you to sit out here by yourself all night.” she says softly
“Oh no, i don't want to be a bother”
“Nico you won't be a bother, and i'm offering so please” she says to him with pleading eyes
“Okay, thank you so much. I'll be out of hair as soon as i can” he smiles to her
“Don't even worry about it, you're more than welcome over at any time.” She smiles at him, turning on her heel to the other side of the hall to open her door, Nico following behind her, shutting the door after him.
“I see you've changed some things, since the last time i've been here” nico says as he looks around her apartment
“I have! Changing it up a bit for the different seasons. Do you like it” yn asks shyly
“I do, its very..you” he smiles to her
“Thank you Nico, that's very kind.”
“Oh! You're soaking wet, let me see if I have anything you can wear. Follow me” she says, turning away to make her way to what nico thinks to be her bedroom as he follows her.
“Yn you don't have too” he says, feeling bad that she's doing all of this for him
“Nico please stop apologizing it's okay, i promise” her hands rummaging through her dresser as she speaks
“Here! I have there huge sweatpants and shirt from my college days hopefully this works for you” she smiles, holding out the clothes in front of her
“This is great thank you” he smiles back, taking them from her hands. His gaze lingering a little longer than it should over her face, taking in the soft color of her eyes, as well as her smile, drinking each bit of her features as he could.
“The bathrooms right down the hall, feel free to shower if you'd like. I'm about to get started on dinner”
“Okay great, thank you so much again” nico says for the 15th time he thinks tonight
“Of course nico, whatever you need im always here” sending him another sweet smile, that almost makes him drop to his knees
“Well i'm going to get changed, i'll be down in a little”
“Of course! I'll be in the kitchen, let me know if you need anything’’
Nico nods in response before finding the door to the bathroom, entering before closing the door behind him. Looking at himself in the mirror at his wet dog appearance. Sighing before turning around, opening the shower, turning on the water to the highest setting. Peeling off his wet clothing before getting in, the hot water is doing wonders for his sore body.
The loss of the game, or being locked out of his apartment weren't on his mind anymore. The only thing he could think about was you, and how kind and sweet you were to him and how much he wanted to kiss you.
2.
Nico stands outside your door after delivering 3 heavy knocks in hopes that you're home. Since the night he spent in your place, you and Nico have gotten closer, meeting each other for coffee at least once a week, talking to each other in the hallway whenever you see each other, along with constantly keeping incontact over text.
Nico who had been gone on a week and a half roadie is finally home, after learning one day when he was gone that you've never been to a devils game he decided that he wanted to change that, which leads him to where he is now. Holding a jersey with his number on it, in hopes that you'll wear it and 3 tickets for you and any two friends you'd wish to invite.
Your door opens signaling that your home, nico perking up instantly once he sees your face.
“Nico! You're home hi!” you say, quickly pulling him a hug, pulling back quickly sending him a smile.
“I am, and i have a gift for you” he says with a smile
“Nico..what did i tell you about gifts” yn says sending him a slight pout
“Oh shush, you're going to like this, here” he says holding the jersey and envelope in front of her to grab
Opening the envelope and looking at the jersey silently, pausing before looking up at him.
“Nico this is so sweet” she says before pulling him another hug
“I hope to see you there, if you aren't busy”
“Luck for you, im off that day”
“Good, i can't wait to see you in my jersey” he says with a slight smirk on his face
“Me neither..captain” she says sending him a wink
Nico can feel his chest and his pants tighten at the nickname that rolls so smoothly off your tongue.
“Well i'll let you get back to your night”
“Right, thank you for this again, can't wait to see you in action in person.” yn says with a giggle
“I'll play my best just for you”
“You better..captain. Goodnight nico” yn says, sending him another hollywood famous smile
“goodnight, yn” sending her one last smile, before turning towards his door, hearing her door softly shut just as he opens his.
Entering his apartment, shutting it behind him, dropping his head against it. The only thoughts running through his mind is how would your lips taste against his.
3.
It's the night of the game you're attending and Nico couldn't be more scared as he steps on the ice for warmups. The whole team was already picking on him before the game in the locker room, when they found out a girl Nico was interested in was coming to watch the game tonight, thanks to jack.
Making his normal rounds on the ice, practicing a few goals, passing a few pucks to jack and luke as he tries to settle his nerves. He spent the last two minutes of the warm ups looking all over for you in the stands, unable to remember where your seats are at, he hopes that you're somewhere in the stands.
The warmups end as the team now gets ready for the start of the national anthem, lining against the blueline as the song starts. dropping his head, closing his eyes letting the song relax his nerves before the game. Once the song ends. He begins to skate off the ice, but not before he sees your face.
There you are standing, in the stands with the brightest smile he's ever seen on your face. Your hair falls perfectly as you laugh at something one of your friends said, before turning back towards the ice where you lock eyes with him. Sending him a wave and smile, Nico flashing the same in return. His eyes taking over your jersey covered body, his jersey, his number, he can't help but feel a sense of pride as he looks at you one last time before making his way to the bench.
“I know that look” jack says beside him, sending him a light shoulder push, “she's here isn't she?” he asks, already knowing the answer
“She is, and she looks beautiful”
“You gave her your jersey didnt you?” jack asks a teasing smile on his face
“ i did” nico replies meeting jacks eyes, his face now holding a shit eating grin
“Awwww little Nico's in love!” jack laughs
“Shut up.”
“When are you going to ask her out?” he asks
“Soon, i hope” he replies
“You really like her huh?”
“I really like her”
Really liking her as nico called it would be an understatement. He would give her the moon, and anything in between, if it would make her happy. He wants to know what it's like to take her on dates, wake up next to her everyday, and most importantly what it's like to kiss her.
+1
“Dinner at my place at 7?” reads the text from yn as nico checks his phone after practice, a smile spreading across his face as he responds sending, “i'll be there at 7:)” before setting his phone down, to finish getting dressed.
“What's the smile on your face cap?” Jack asks from beside him, as he picks up his gear.
“What, can a guy not smile anymore?” he replies
“We know who put a smile on your face cap” Jack snickers to him. “So when are you gonna grow a pair and ask her out?” he asks, as he and Nico make their way out of the locker room.
“I don't know, maybe tonight? She invited me over for dinner. Sometimes i can't tell if she likes me or not” nico sighs out
“Dude.” jack says as he turns to look at nico
“You actually can't be serious. She's definitely into you. She literally came to her first NHL game and wore your jersey, AND she invited you over for dinner randomly. She definitely likes you.”
“I hope so, i'll ask her tonight '' Nico says confidently, Jack's words finally knocking some sense into him.
“You better, or I'll do it myself” Jack says with a smirk, Nico sending him a glare at his words causing Jack to let out a deep laugh as they make their way to their cars.
“YOU BETTER DO IT!” jack says out his car window, as he pulls out
“I WILL” Nico shouts back, sending him a thumbs up.
As nick drives home the only thing on his mind is you, and how tonight he wouldn't back down, that tonight he'd ask you out, and maybe just maybe even kiss you.
–
Nicos hand slightly shakes as he goes to knock on your door, giving it a firm knock. His grasp on the bouquet of flowers tightens as he hears your footsteps on the other side of the door.
“Hi” yn smiles at him as she opens her front door, stepping back quickly allowing nico to come in, closing the door behind them.
“Hi, it smells wonderful in here. What's on the menu tonight chef?” nico asks as he follows yn into her kitchen
“It's a surprise” she says, finally turning around to meet his eyes. Nico finally got a good look at her for the first time tonight. He can't help but stare at her, taking in all of her beautiful features, mesmerized by how effortlessly beautiful she is.
“Nico?” yns sweet voice breaking him out his daydream
“Yeah?”
“Are you okay? You kinda just stared at me for a sec”
“Yeah yeah, I'm okay. Just got lost in thought. Oh! These are for you” he says trying to change the subject, holding the flowers out for her to take.
“Aw these are so cute! how'd you know these are my favorites?” yn asks, a bright smile on her face as she takes the flowers from him.
“You told me”
“Wasn't that like months ago?”
“I try to remember everything about you. I know your favorite flower are tulips, and that you hate peas, how you only sleep on the left side of any bed." Nico cuts himself before he embarrasses himself anymore than he has. His face heats up with a deep shade of red as yn stands there staring at him wide eyed over his words.
“I'm sorry that was too much, and uncalled for.” he quickly says, in a miserable attempt to cover his tracks
“No ones ever taken the time to ever know me like that before” yn says quietly
“ I don't know why anyone would. Everything about you is perfect and beautiful” he says, finding her gaze.
“Do you really mean that?”
“I meant every word.” Nico says as  he continues to look at her. He can almost see the gears moving her head as she tries to find her words. Instead of speaking, Nico suddenly feels her soft lips against his.
His body moving before his brain does, wrapping his hands around her face pulling her into his body, their lips moving in sync.
“Wow” nico whispers, pulling away from her lips
“Why didn't we do that sooner?” yn says almost against nico lips, bringing her head up to look at nico whose hands are still around her face.
“I don't know, but I think I want to do it again, '' Nico says before softly kissing her.

okay and another thing (maybe the last. let's hope. I don't want to be the old person yells at clouds meme forever!)
can we (and, God willing, Tony Gilroy) stop excusing every strange narrative choice, every lack of payoff and every characterisation inconsistency with "well, they were going to do five seasons but then they only got two"?
Because it's not like they had everything laid out and the scripts all finished and the cast all under contract and then someone called Gilroy the night before shooting started and said "lol btw you have to do it all in one season good luck". This was also Gilroy's decision, and they knew this for some time.
I'm sure Gilroy and company wrote a script for that five-season version of the show they were proud of, and I'm sure it was disappointing to have to cut it down. I write too, I get that feeling. But here's the thing: Your job as a professional writer is to tell the best possible story within the parameters you are given. If you're a novelist and your publishing house will only let your book have 500 pages, and you turn in a book with no ending and say "well, I ran out of space", then you didn't write a good book. If you're a journalist and half of your article is missing because you ignored the space limit and now everyone only has half the information, that is a bad article. If you're a student and you have an idea for a term paper that spans 50+ pages and the page limit is 20, and instead of picking a different topic you cut your first draft down to fit even though you lose half your argument and most of the relevant analysis in the process, you've written a bad paper. And regardless of how great that writer, journalist or student think their text could have turned out to be, the bottom line in the real world is that the public has a book that is bad, and an article that isn't telling the whole story, and that student is getting a bad grade for handing in an incoherent, surface-level paper.
When you realise the parameters of your task have changed, it is your job to adapt to that new framework. And if you look at the story you have and think, well, this thing needs way more seasons to tell than I am given by the studio... then it is your job to put that draft into a cupboard and get to work on a story that can be told in a single season. Even if that story is completely different from the one you were going to tell! Kill your darlings, gentlemen! I'm sure they loved what they had written, but as professionals, it is their job to recognise this story no longer works, and let it go. They didn't do that. They chopped bits off until the foot somehow fit into the glass slipper, because they were too concerned with their own attachment to the work they had already created, and not concerned enough with the question of whether they were giving their audience the best story they could tell in the framework they were actually given.
And that is called doing a bad job.
So I'm sorry, but every time someone counters a critique of the narrative flow or the character consistency or the treatment of every female and/or poc character with "well, they didn't have enough time to tell their story!", all I am hearing is "well, consider that this show was written by people who were being bad at their job!"

I don't think I'm the only one who thinks Wars was an asshole? Like, is the reader supposed to have -known- they were actually controlling somone? The world they were from, the Links aren't real, right? And here he is instantly blaming them for playing something they'd only know as a game, cruelly making them cry and being just all around awful. I hope someone calls him out on it.
Sorry, nonnie :( Wars was indeed an asshole, but his game would probably one of the worst to live through. He had to watch his men die in a war that turned out to be some sort of sick entertainment for an interdimensional being. Add to that his whole... situation with Cia, and he's not thrilled with the idea that reader might have just. Over-written his free will while playing the game. Don't worry, Twilight will beat up Wars on your behalf <3
#2 Chain x Speedrunner! Deity! Isekai! Reader - Who's in Control?
Tumblr media
Part 2 includes Sky, Twilight, and Legend Part 1 ✿ Part 2 (you are here) ✿ Part 3
When you first fell through the portal and joined the chain on their quest, you had revealed that they were only stories in your world. It had taken a while for them to understand the concept of a video game, and even longer for them to come to terms with the fact that some of the most traumatic events of their lives were reduced to children’s entertainment. However, as they talked with you, they came to another horrifying discovery: YOU were their “player.” Your actions in your world, the decisions you made while playing the games, directly influenced their own lives. What’s more, you were a speedrunner.
Tumblr media
Sky
“Hey, Y/N?” Sky approaches you at camp, wringing his hands nervously. He won’t meet your gaze. “Did… did I do something to make you mad?”
“What?” You think back on your last few interactions. You hadn’t been treating him any differently. Unless you were somehow a jerk and didn’t even know it? You have been pretty sleep-deprived lately. “No. Why do you ask?”
“It’s just that…” He trails off, clearly not sure how to approach this topic. He takes a breath and tries again. “You kind of controlled us during our adventures, right?”
Well, crap.
“I think so? I’m not really sure how it works.” Now you’re the one that won’t look him in the eyes. “My influence on you guys is still… weird to think about.”
“Yeah.” He nodded. Learning the existence of your free will was questionable at best was not a great feeling. “But you controlled everything we did, right?”
“Not necessarily!” You can feel the sweat dripping down your neck. “Talking to some of the others, maybe you guys could influence me, too? Like, Four said he felt scared during the final fight, and that’s the same time that I messed up with the controls!”
Sky hums, as if agreeing. It’s clear he doesn’t believe it.
“But you’re the one that made me jump off that post in Skyloft.” He says quietly. He’s not angry. He just seems sad, honestly. “And then… Fi was there all of a sudden? I can’t remember exactly. Everything seemed so… out of order?”
You swallow the glob of spit in your throat. He was talking about the Back in Time glitch. How did he even remember that? It requires two save files and to move around while in the menu.
“You remember that?” You yelp. “Shoot, I’m so, so sorry. That’s a glitch to make the game faster. I swear, I had known you weren’t just a video game I would have never-”
“It’s fine.” He interrupts, giving a weak smile. “I’m used to it.”
“Used to what?” You ask, but he walks away. He disappears between the trees, and you’re left staring at the empty clearing full of camping equipment.
“...Used to what?” You whisper to yourself.
Tumblr media
Twilight
“Y’alright?” Twilight asks you. He’d found you a ways away from camp, curled up agains the side of a tree. You sniff, wiping your eyes but not meeting his gaze.
“Peachy,” you say sarcastically, but your voice cracks, and it sounds more pathetic than anything else. He sits down next to you.
“Rupee for your thoughts?” He smiles. When you don’t respond, he leans forward, trying to get a look at your face. “You know you can talk to me, right? Or I could be Wolfie, if that would be easier? Dog therapy is a thing right? Wolf therapy is just a few degrees removed from that.”
“Don’t go transforming for my sake.” You snicker, finally turning your head to look at him. Your eyes are red and puffy from crying. “It’s nothing. No need for you to get worked up over it.”
“It is very clearly not ‘nothing’.” His eyebrows furrow. “Did one of the others say something? I swear if Legend was giving you grief again–”
“No, nobody said anything. It’s just a lot of things, I guess…” You explain hesitantly. “Like, I got sucked through a random portal and suddenly a bunch of game characters are real. And what’s worse is the things I did in the game actually happened to them? Does that apply to every game I’ve played? What about when I stopped playing a game? Or deleted a save file?” You thread your fingers through your hair, feeling more tears threatening to spill out. How many deaths and traumas were your fault? How many lives have you ruined?
“You couldn’t have known. Heck, WE didn’t know about you.” Twilight pats your back, bringing you back to reality.
“But didn’t you feel something was off? I was like,” you make claws with your hands, emphasizing your point “controlling you guys against your will or something.”
“Well, it was kinda weird when I stared at a rupee for fifteen hours straight.” He chuckles, “But like I said, you had no way of knowing. Nobody here blames you.”
“I’m pretty sure Wars hates me…”
“Well, he’s an asshole.” Twilight rolls his eyes. “I’ll give him a piece of my mind next time he’s bothering you, ya hear?”
“Okay,” you smile, wiping your nose with your sleeve. “Thanks.”
“Anytime.”
Tumblr media
Legend
“Speedrunning? That sounds incredibly stupid.” Legend scoffs. You had tried explaining some of the strange things that he had encountered during his adventure, only to be made fun of. Honestly, you probably deserved it a little bit.
“Yeah, it’s a whole thing. People compete to get the fastest time, which usually requires glitches.” You chuckle nervously, scratching the back of your head.
“So you broke the very fabric of reality in order to win.” He raises an eyebrow.
“I didn’t break reality!” You exclaim.
“I climbed up a ladder and just… kept going up, even when there wasn’t anything to climb on!” Legend throws his hands in the air. “I held a bomb above my head and floated across a room.”
“That’s not necessarily breaking reality,” you grimace. He’s honestly got a point, but you’re not about to concede like that. “People can fly. There’s a whole race of bird people called the Rito in the other timelines.”
“Do I look like a bird?” Legend motions to himself, showing off his very-much-not-a-bird-self. “You know what? Forget it. If all you’re going to do is make excuses, I’m done.”
He turns to walk away, but you grab his hand. His back is to you, so you can’t see his face. Hopefully he won’t hate you too much.
“Legend, I swear I would never have played the games if I knew I was messing with real people. I had no idea.” You sniff, tears threatening to fall. You’re so sick of this. You’re so sick of needing to explain this to them. “Your games were some of the first games I ever played. I remember coming back from school as a kid, excited to play them. I… I loved all the characters. I spent hours trying to find every side quest, trying to get everyone a happy ending. When I started speedrunning… I never could have known… I’m sorry.”
He turns around, his bangs half-covering his eyes. He looks ready to cry, too.
“You loved her too, huh?” He whispers, then laughs, regaining his composure and returning to the snarky Legend you know and love. “Just make sure you don’t, like, puppet me around now, alright? I can’t imagine what the others would do if I started backflipping through walls.”
You giggle at his annoyed expression. They were sure to be insufferable about it.
“Deal.”
